Isn't DSL the same as broadband? Anyway make sure all programs that use it the internet are closed. Download GameBoost, it will optimize your internet settings and reduce lag. Failing all that, wait a few days, your ISP may be having some problems, it's happened to me, patience.

He said High Speed Broadband, most likely meaning DSL2+ which is _NOT_ DSL.

Either someone else in your house network is using the internet, or you have a program running in the background that is whoring up your internet.

you have a program running in the background that is whoring up your internet.
These programs could be anything like:
- Other games (where you may have not quit any other games properly)
- Bittorrent, BitComet, or any other torrent downloader
- Any P2P progams (Like Limewire, or  Kazaa)

Or someone else in your house network is using one of these things *or* is also playing an online game.

Isn't DSL the same as broadband?

No. DSL is the next thing up from ISDN, or Dialup (I think). DSL is only 20+ times faster than Dialup. High Speed broadband is anything from 1mb+ speed...(once again, I think). EnEsCe knows a hell of a lot more than I do though, he could spell it out better for you...

If it's not that, it's your ISP.

Reformat the partition you have windows on. Reinstall windows. Thats a simple fix, but you will lose everything you don't back up. I recommend  calling your internet service provider(isp) and ask them about what is happening.

wireless is bad to play just about any game on

"High Speed Broadband" is a term used for anything that is significantly faster than dialup which is most DSL and cable connections.  DSL is a type of "High speed broadband"

It can be. I'm using DSL since it offers better speeds and reliability than my Cox Cable connection did. While generally, yes, cable is faster, there are so many factors (including location to the source and quality of network) which can affect speeds where that is far from some standardized "truth."
