This kind of stunned me... I mean, it's hard to imagine what goes through someone's mind after he finds out he's going to die in say, two years. All your plans, all your dreams get crumbled, and you have only one chance to achieve them: by doing everything radically, as soon as possible. What you've got to lose anyway?

He was also as old as my cousin, who's like a brother to me. Those years are when you build your life as an individual: your studies near to an end, you find a final job, move in a house with your girlfriend, marry, make a family. But if you have a terminal disease, that's pretty much impossible.
