Ineffective Flamer
« on: November 15, 2006, 06:21:16 pm »
Is it just me?  Or is the flamer FAR less effective online than against bots?

Why does this occur?

And of course, It's less effective in general because human players are smart enough to stay out of range.

In a recent DM, I was playing close quarters 1on1 with sadist. I got flamer, and chased him around with it, the flame hitting him for about eight seconds of the immortality. Only about half his health got depleted. :(?

FlameGod used to be just as powerful offline as on, right before v1.3.1. Hopefully it'll be one of the many bugs fixed in this upcoming version

Flamethrower should deal much more damage. I can't remember if it renders you immortal as long as you hold it, but otherwise it's kinda useless.

I support making it better.
I fucking miss all you cunts!

alot of times when I played with the flamer, I would get like 30 kills before dieing. Just running into groups of half dead people and frying them while shouting "BBQ" like a retard

I always avoid it, and I have a question related to this, when flame-god wears off, can you still kill? I always find people standing there and burn them for like 10 seconds and they don't eve get bloody, then they turn around and kill me.

Yes, you can still kill. The Flame God timed invincibility is separate from the flame thrower as an actual weapon. You can even pick up other bonuses once the Flame God wears off, so you can have a Predator invisible player using the flamethrower. :)

I have never played with the Flamethrower online ever. Not once. However I can easily see that being a very laggy weapon.

The flamer is less than average once the immortality wears off, online. Sometimes the secondaries are even better than the flamer, a power-up. More like power-down. I'm not saying it's a crappy weapon, it's just not as good as you would think a flame-thrower would be.

The flamer has a fast reload, but the damage it deals is horrible. When I get Flame-God,I usually think "screw flamer.Time to grenade!".The invincibility should protect you for getting close to people and throwing grenades at their faces.

For other words, more power to the flamer.

lag is no excuse for its faulty funcioning.  the server should handle flame thrower much better than it currently does - with some minor lag there shouldn't be reason why flaming someone straight on won't burn him/her.  Sometimes people don't get burned even if they're just standing still.  Shouldn't be an all too difficult fix.
Can't think of anything original to put here...
