keyboard problem
« on: November 15, 2006, 09:05:11 pm »
I have this old 1990's packard bell keyboard for my computer because i am a cheap basterd and it has this problem where randomly when in the process of typing, the little lights above where it determines that caps lock, or num lock, or scroll lock, all flash once at the same time, and the last key I pressed is just held on until I press backspace or enter, or that same key again.

*basically*

It can make my chat look like thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis when I am typppppppping in the middle of a sentence without correcting iiiiiiiiiiit.

It doesn't happen as often as I exaggerated it. It's normally like once every few minutes. And it's something I can deal with most of the time.

Sometimes it get's me in situations in soldat, where it will hold onto 's' and I will be stuck running in the left direction until I realise it's stuck, and sometimes gets me killed. One time it held on to Alt and I ended up getting flood kicked from a server because I kept putting in taunts as I was trying to run and jump. Another time I was at my desktop and it held onto enter while I had a notepad.txt file highlighted, and it opened like 25 notepad programs.

Again, it doesn't happen often, but it can happen with any key.

Now this is the reason I am writing this.

just a few minutes before I made this topic, it was stuck on a key, and I couldn't tell which one it was. However, for some reason, what ever key it was stuck on, it forbade my computer from comprehending more than one key at a time. For example, if i were playong soldat, I could run in one direction, and then jump after I stop running, but I couldnt jump while running.

Anyone have any idea what key it might have been stuck on?

Maybe it's happening because you have an extremely old keyboard?

Some older keyboards aren't too happy with people who press more than two or three keys, I believe.

lol

Get a new keyboard. The cheapest on you can find would be better than that one.

20 bucks goes far with keyboards, my advice is, if your keyboard is tan and it used to be white, buy a new keyboard.

Also just for laughs, tip this one upside down and shake it, see all the crap that falls out of it.
