To build one, of course it's expensive. A PC with those specs is around 2000$.
Well I think so... They weren't planning this much poeple to buy in the next 3 shipments. They had to actually cancel the ps3's to Europe because the price is too much.
It is expensive, I heard somewhere Sony are actually losing abit of money on the manufacturing costs of each unit... Hence why the games are so expensive.I wouldn't bother rushing in and buying one yet, the CPU will just melt to the motherboard.
bluray? hd-dvd? betamax? puh-lease.XBOX lost money for the first few years on the selling of their consoles too. It's the games and license deals they get moola from .....or some crap like that.
The PS3S are selling out everywhere. If I could gather $600 from mugging people then I would buy one but, unfortunately I don't have any old baseball bats lying around . Oops. I forgot to metion that it plays blu-ray discs and usually the players for those go for around $1000 so it's not that bad of a deal.
God bless America.
Every console sells with no or negative profits, they make their money on the games, still the ps3 is way overpriced.

The 3D0 sold for a profit. I believe the Halcyon and some other older systems were as well. Plus as technology ages, some systems become profitable on sale such as Nintendo's GameBoy line.
