GMPhysics - ultra awesome physics playground
« on: November 19, 2006, 01:47:48 pm »
I came across this program on the internets called GMPhysics. It is by far the best 2d physics engine I've ever seen. The shapes react realistically, the constraint functions are wonderful (springs, welder tools, rope, and some others), and it's just damn fun. Did I mention it was made in Gamemaker, the so-called noob programming language?

Have some screenies:

A car, made by using a wheel, and motorized wheel, and a spring. It travels rather fast.

The boxes react well.

Manpower!

A rocket, built by welding different types of thrusters to various sides of a box. The thrusters can be activated via numpad, so I laid them out in such a way that I'd have a nice set of controls to work with.

Success!

Download it here: My mirror link

By the way, the icon has my old logo on it because I didn't want it to be stuck with the crappy gamemaker ball icon.

It crashed my computer.

doing certain things causes it to crash, ie. making terrain too long,, making terrain after deleting certain things, deleting the truck without wheels in selection, etc. To close it, hit CTRL-alt-delete, go to processes, and end GMPhysics.exe.

What caused it to crash?

The wind, first I used wind, then it stayed the same. Tne I hit alt-ctrl-delete and nothing happened, so I held it down for a few seconds while hiting esc and such. Then nothing else happened so I turned off the computer.

Pressing CTRL-alt-delete should just open up the task manager. Which windows are you using? I use XP pro with no problems.

Sometimes it takes multiple presses of ctrl+alt+del until the Task Manager actually pops up, but ctrl+shift+escape does it instantly for me.

It shouldn't. I build structures in pause all the time, which means I have to use right click whilst paused. Why is everyone getting so many more crashes than me?

Toumaz, that kinda reminds me of pyro sand. Great smoke effects you got there.

Probably because they try to do stupid things that makes the DLL crash into furry little pieces. Always a negative aspect of those sandbox programs. ;)

No, I used a DLL called  GMphysics (which I think the program above is a sandbox demonstration for) to create that crappy simulator.

So... did anyone get to use the sandbox? It seems like everyone got errors.
