Lappy Shoppin'
« on: November 20, 2006, 12:28:49 pm »
I've done some searching, and come up with a few laptops that i might consider buying.

What i'm looking for in a laptop is dependability, the ability to run multiple programs with ease, and of course good graphics.

I guess you could say i want a fragbook... But i'm also going to be using it in university.

I've read a few reviews, and these laptops seem like the best ideas.

HP Pavilion dv6000t - This one seems iffy to me... But it has dedicated graphics options and seems like it'd be fast.

VAIO SZ2 - Another candidate? Nice graphics, looks, but he screen is slightly smaller...

Lenovo Thinkpad T60 - That finger scanner is way too cool. The price range is good, it's got all the bells and whistles. I think this one would work well for me.

Inspiron 6400 - My dad has an inspiron. It's alright in terms of running games, but it begins to suck badly when you run multiple programs. Is dell a good option?

Now i ask you guys for your expertise. What laptop do you think is the most well-rounded?  8)

First of all. Thank god your not looking for a desktop replacement. I would have to slap you. Your one of the more intelligent ones around here.

Dells fall apart really fist and there is no way you can get customer support.

I'm thinking just go with the VAIO

I've thought about this too.  I don't want a cinder block with a 20 minute battery life, but still want advanced graphics and speed.

I have heard good things about each brand you stated.  But I would have to choose the Dell.

Although I do not really like Dell that much, it looks like a logical choice.  The battery's large, the graphics good, and it doesn't look enormous.  The IBM looks decent, but the graphics are disgusting.  HP is just starting to get into the high end notebook arena.  The VAIO looks decent, but the review states it's lacking some features.

Don't get a laptop, they are expensive and not as good as a regular pc.

Yes :)

Ahh ... a phantom notebook !

Hmm. It's got random jottings of Soldat balance info. Why would a ghost be interested in this?

And another riddle on the last page! Well this is weird..

"One item remains for me to shed,
full nudity shall commence
Here on I shall be not found
to be sitting on the fence!

It wrapped around my head
with a proud anime status
All would fear my ninjitsu
But Chakra always hate us :( "

..hmm. An anime Chakra hates, and an item wrapped around your head. I bet it's unearthly. I wonder ...[/b]

I have a Compaq Presario V2000, and it runs most of todays games at low settings...I sorta wish I spent that extra money and bought something a little better!...oh well....
the Dell looks nice....and so does the IBM.

I'm on a Dell XPS and it's a pretty good machine. Now, I'm not that techy guy who can tell you everything about my comp, and what to look for. But I will give you this little bit of advice.  As bja888 said, Dell Laptops fall apart quickly - and he's not kiddin'. I've had two laptops and the keys all just slowly falling off. My enter key is busted, so I use my on screen keyboard. The customer support is actually quite fair though. Twice, my CD drive broke, and twice they sent me a new one.
The computer is a moron.

I plan on having 5 hard drives in my computer. Multiple GPU video processing. 7.1 channel surround sound. 8 usb ports by default and I can ad more if I feel like it. And I take off my fan filters about once a month to clean them. Can your laptop do that?
