I wanna switch my laptop to linux.

Hello, I keep hearing linux is much better that windows in many ways. Can you give me a link to download it? I tried google and I went to www.linux.org but when I went in the download section it only showed me how to download it.

Yes i know, But there are distributions on ISO images, or a burned cd that you can download from. How would you get the ISO images to work is there a program needed?

No, it is not illegal. Find a good Linux distribution, burn it on a CD with a program like Nero Burning Rom and boot from the CD. Also you may need to create some of those linux partitions... don't ask me how to do it though.

1) Download ISO
2) Burn ISO to a Compact Disc
3) Put the CD in your CD Drive
4) Restart your computer
5) Fallow on screen instructions.

6) Realize you don't have any of your programs or files backed up.
7) Stress
8 ) Get angry because you don't know how to find/use windows alternatives your used to.
9) Switch back to windows. Fuck Doors

Bja888 with ubuntu/kubuntu/xubuntu they have almost everything you need right off the cd. Plus with synaptic its really easy.

It is not illegal to download it. It would be illegal to a company selling it to download it for free. Flies can explain better.

Linux and most of its software is covered by the GPL license, which basically allows you to do anything with the software (including selling it) as long as you provide the source code if/when requested.

So if I recieved a Ubuntu CD, and sold it to some moron for 100,000$, It's completely legal? Yay!
