[Flamer]
Damage=1400
FireInterval=8
Ammo=70
ReloadTime=9999
Speed=100
BulletStyle=5
StartUpTime=2
Bink=4
MovementAcc=2
Recoil=3

Gives it some disadvantages I think.

but decrease the fire intervals to 6 or 5, decrease the ammo to 50. I dont think bink nor MovemenAcc are needed. everything else's good.

Is it true that the flamer doesn't bink people? It's good for balence, but it's pretty odd considering that you'd be very 'binked' if you were on fire :D

How did this reach 4 pages!?

The only way the Flamer could ever be implemented fairly as a primary would involve it being nerfed into the equivilant of a bunsen burner..

It defies rational explanation how many people seem to want to support this idea.

Let's all stop for a second and ask ourselves some questions: (I have left my thoughts on each one in brackets)

If the flamer was implemented as a primary weapon...

1) How much would it have to be altered to preserve balance and would it be as enjoyable to use as it is as a bonus weapon?

(The amount it would have to be nerfed might change it so much that it becomes a horrible, boring, hard to use weapon)

2) How would it change gameplay from the soldat we all know and love and would we regret this change enough to want it changed back?

(We're all used to the current 14 standard weapons, throw flamer into the mix and loads of people will hate you for it, some will like it at first, but change their minds later)

3) Would we eventually get fed up of just getting burned to death constantly?
(Yes, I've tried playing against multiple bots with Flamers.. it's very difficult... and bots are easy as apposed to players)

4) Would there be a replacement bonus weapon? - since we'd be losing it as a bonus.
(I can't think of a replacement bonus weapon... unless you swap minigun and flamer making minigun a bonus, but that's a little stupid)

5) Realistically speaking, would MM actually at all consider making such a prolific change so far into Soldats lifetime?
(Most changes MM makes to soldat in each version are subtle.. the biggest change  lately is the new bullets. This change would change soldat forever)

6) Would the weapons menu have to be altered, and how would this affect mods that currently work fine?
(Unless a weapon had to be replaced by it, it would mean the weapons menu would have to get bigger... and so any mods with interface backgrounds would have to be fixed accordingly)

7) Do I really want this change to benefit the game? Or do I just want to use Flamethrower alot because it's a novelty weapon.

(I agree it's fun to use Flamer... but only as a bonus weapon that gives you the odds over everyone else)

8 ) Would the novelty of the Flamer be ruined by such casual use of it?

(Probably yes, most new people to the game would use it alot for the fun of it and then get bored of it)

Kid you are looking way to into this. Just because you don't like the weapon doesn't mean it would be downfall of soldat as we know it. Plenty of people hate the barret and m79 and think they both should be removed from the game. Somehow praise be to the gods very fabric of soldat is not ripped apart from the sheer presence of those weapons. All of your points are overflowing with bias, so really you have no place in a thread like this that weighs the pros and cons of a weapon. Oh and btw if you get killed by bots that have the flamer then you more then likely just need to get a little more time under your belt.

On the contrary I think Hyper raises more valid points than invalid ones here. YOU are not in a position to say that he's biased since you are the creator of this thread.

how do you know all those things?? they haven't even put flamer into a primary yet.

how do you know that people are gonna get bored of the flamer??

what you saying are not facts, are assumption. and assumptions are nothing but guesses

and most of the time guesses are wrong

summary: you are wrong

And yes. The flamer does not fit into the current balance. but if you read the the previous posts. We talked a lot about flamer nerfing. There's a big chance that after the nerf the flamer would fit, even complementing the gameplay, making it more enjoyable to everyone and we will not be

Hyper's supposed ramifications are based on preexisting experiences. Really if you all are quite adamant about it, I'll agree with you guys so to see the end result.

All I want out of this arguement is to be able to set primary weapons with the Flame bullet without it looking like an invisable napalm thingy.

Heck I would settle for a script that gave every person in a server the flamer on spawn. This topic was really to just get people thinking about it and see if anyone supported it. Still I do wish we could change bullet styles without the graphics screwing up. I can't remember if I brought that up in beta testing or not, I doubt that is going to get fixed though.

Uhm... I like this idea.

What would it be, if the NoobCannon (M79) or Mower (Minigun) was REMOVED? We could put the Flamer there :D

Totally F12, but after removing one of these weapons.
My SPAS-12 doesn't like most of people. He can mistakenly shoot your brain out of your head and splash it on the nearest wall.

thats what i said liek a couple of pages back. Then the balance wouldn't be messed up and such...

Makes me think if there was a posibility for adding different effects when the bullets collide with something. Napalm rockets FTW. Just go and try cortex command and you'll see what I am talking about

It surprises me that this thread is still alive.

It is clearly stated in the rules, that a new primary weapon will never be added.  It will also cause a lot of tension for the beta testers because they'll have to argue over the a new weapon balance.  And a lot of noobs will then just use this weapon and ruin the game-play.

So I still don't support this.

The only time I actually see this happening is in a weapon mod.  Modify one of the primary weapon into a Flamethrower.

Exactly, but the flame bullettype doesn't work right on normal guns right now.

Apparently some people think its a good idea, how is that surprising? I never stated it should be a primary, read my first post. Thanks for giving us your iron-clad look into the future.. please tell me the exact moment I will die so I can mentally prepare myself. Finally, read the damn posts in this thread, hell read the last one I posted, we already talked about a weapons mod. Do you honestly think I would have not already tried a weapon mod before even making this topic oh so long ago?

I never thought you might actually try to create one.  I thought this thread would die because a majority of the people who replied to this thread, we're against it.  Due to such high numbers, I thought it would eventually die.
