A little problem of doom ; (
« on: December 10, 2006, 05:54:30 am »
I guess its not soldat related but I need help.

I have a laptop with a windows xp home on it and on one day I accidently do a forced shutdown while the windows is loading up. (the windows logo and the blue train that shows when windows is loading up)

Next time I boot my pc up it goes through the windows load up but stops on a screen where it says it has to do some checking. I let it do the checking and it says it deleted a few files. suddenly I get a bluescreen of death and windows does a immidiate shutdown! Next time I try to turn the pc on it brings me list in which mode do I want to run windows (Safe mode, normal mode, and few other things) I tried selecting all of them one at a time but it ended up giving me a bluescreen and shutting down the pc with no warning.

Please help!

Well, from what I've heard, your laptop is a piece of poo ;) I can't say what's causing the problem, try booting in safe mode, I remeber having this problem a while, but I can't remeber how I fixed it :( Maybe go on a computer forum and post there? Maybe it's time for a new laptop numgun ;)

This laptop is not poop, its pretty new and has nice specs.

Btw, how can I transfer files off this laptop into another pc.
What kind of a wire do I need?

If you are unable to boot up the laptop, the only way to transfer files off of it is to physically remove the harddrive (which involves taking the laptop apart) and connect it internally to a secondary computer (most likely, you will need a 3.5" to 2.5" PATA(previously known as ATA or IDE) adapter to do this).

I would also say that you have successfully b0rked your laptop, and you will most likely need to format/reinstall. I also doubt that you will be able to boot, unless you have a boot disk made up.

But before formatting, I would try starting up the recovery console (boot from Windows CD and follow the instructions) and use the fixmbr command to write a new master boot record. If that doesn't work, then I'd reformat. But it's worth a try.

What the hell is that? sounds funny but scary for me. : E
If booting means getting the pc on and getting through the start screen where you get a split second to press f10 to get to the setup. than its alright.

Ill try out the stuff others told me do to through the recovery console. If not, all my files along with tons of changes in my mod will be flushed through the toiled. I dont care about anything else that much. I could reformat anytime I want if it wasnt my mod.

*sigh* wish me luck : (

I got it working! (I used ''scandisk'' and ''fixmbr'' in the recovery console.)

My work is saved... *Quickly backs up the whole thing on to a CD*
