Author Topic: Fix the Barrett typo. (Read 5996 times)

Alright, this is a pet peeve of mine (see my Barrett typo userbar), and I think it'd be really easy to fix. All Michal Marcinkowski has to do is go into the files he makes the installer from, add another "t" to the end of "Barret" in weaponnames.txt, and he's done.

I really don't see why this hasn't been done before, it's probably the only feature in Soldat that will take less than a minute to implement.

In case anyone thinks I'm making a typo, see here.

I'm not going against MM or anything like that, but having in-game bugs and glitches is one thing, but having typos is just sad.

It's only a typo. Release a mod that fixes it if you hate it so much. Anyway, I'm sure MM has bigger fish to fry.

As people have said already, do it yourself. The typo doesn't annoy me at all personally... it ain't worth the fuss.

It would take all of one second to correct it. Yeah, it's hardly a pressing matter, but as an error it would be nice to see it fixed. Just the same, I honestly didn't catch the error, myself not being familiar with military firearms.

I don't care if its misspelled. I suppose it has somewhat "soldat history" in it.
However topics like this (or similar) pops up like once a month, something that would stop if he adds one more byte to a text file

Might as well fix it... then we don't have to hear all the stupid whining anymore.

Though seeing it spelled barrett just looks plain weird after playing soldat for 3-4 years, but that'll pass after a short time.

Maybe I should start complaining about how in the join menu you see the word "favourites", while in the player menu you see the word "colors".

Actually there is (Google it), but it's not the Barrett used in Soldat, so it's even more misleading

No, those are both valid spellings. Sorta like "buses" and "busses".

Not quite the same. What Vis is referring to is a lack of consistency in the choice of English usage in the game. "Favourite" is the British Enlish spelling, while "color" is the American English version.

It's pronounced "Bare Ett", not "behr-it", just in case you're wondering, or plain don't know.
It's also a slow push into your shoulder, not a collar-bone breakin' recoil machine.

Folding Stock. Non-existent on the original AK-47. That's why the interface shows it without a stock: It's folded away.

On the whole issue, it's not really a big deal but it would be nice to fix. Barrett... it definitely looks better as Barret, less lopsided. Maybe thats why MM made it spelled that way...
