Nonvalid integers
« on: December 12, 2006, 08:15:33 pm »
This is an occasional problem and is usually fixed by a good ol' reboot, but this began occuring after I rid my computer of a virus:

I run Soldat, the start window pops up and I hit the continue button (no I haven't registered yet), then the main screen pops up.  It looks perfect, so it is right?  Nope.  First problem: when it popped up there's that terrible little 'thunk' sound that signifies a Windows error.  I didn't comprehend at first and I wanted to get playing so I ignored it and pressed the Start button... or I thought I did.  Then I realize the Start button doesn't 'pop up' like it usually does when you hover the mouse over it, and it doesn't do anything when click but make the *gasp* error noise.  I hit the Windows flag key to minimize and see my desktop in 600x800 not scaled (as in only the top right of the screen) with several windows saying '(random long number) is not a valid integer value.'  That's not the end, though.  I have to hit ctrl+alt+del, then find a way to kill the thing.  The strangest part is every time I click something the desktop reloads, so I can't right click and scrolling is painful.  But I finally kill it.  This is happening quite often, does anyone know a problem or am I stuck restarting alot now? ???

"'XXXXXXXXXX' Is not a valid integer" error.

This is usually caused by a bad installation of Soldat. To solve the problem, you need to reinstall Soldat following these steps:

      1. Uninstall Soldat.
      2. Delete the Soldat folder to remove any leftover files.
      3. Restart to make sure no Soldat files are in use.
      4. Install Soldat.
      5. Restart to finish the installation.
      6. If you still recieve the invalid integer error, then download Soldat from a different location and follow the above steps.

You can visit this thread here for more information on this error.

Some players report that a memory managment program called 7-max helps with this problem and the above "Access Violation" problem. For more details please visit: http://www.7-max.com/

Bullshit, every Soldat installation is the same. There's no such thing as random installations. This isn't christianity.

Soldat doesn't empty integers before using them, rebooting or running a memory draining game solves it.
