Randomly picked teams each map (server-side option)

( No clue if this is already suggested before, but ... )

... i think it could be interesting, especially in teammodes (as ctf, tdm, inf), to have a server-side option which randomly changes the teams each map. The serveradmin is of course free to put this option on/off at his/her server.

( Maybe the 'random'-factor can even be specified, so you're able to make a mix of good and bad players in each team according to a few parameters (as K/D-ratio, flag grabs/returns/caps ) ... only if nsc/michal is a codingmood though )

P.S. This probably also can be accomplished by a script for a soldatserver, i assume, so maybe someone could code a script for this...

Maybe there could be multiple types of team changes, i.e., random shuffle, points shuffle (teams based on # of points), style shuffle (teams get an equal amount of flagrunners (people with lots of caps), defenders (people who have lots of kills) and everyone else), alphabetical shuffle (teams chosen based on names, so for example, Awesome Guy and Barrett Master would fight against Cool Dude and Minisurfer), etc.

yes, such script would be possible, but not in current server version, cause of lack in any random() function,

i'll write it down somewhere and when v1.3.2/v2.6 will be released... i'll try my best ;)

that's an awesome idea, perhaps if it's fuzzy calculated (using for example a ratio of a ratio of a ratio to the players k/d ratio, because this will almost always be different) and not random it could be implemented without random() function.  EnEsCe might have an idea too.

Ellz yeah. That'd be awesome... Every game would test your skills, and every game would be evenly matched, for an awesome, hard, but fun match.

This would be nice, yes. But what if making the team "randomizing" based on player kills, deaths, and maybe even ping! Not trying to make balanced teams maybe, some formula to mix teams every mapchange. :)

"IF kills > 2 and deaths > 4 then changeteam()" "iF kills + ping > 132 then change team" and such. :P

I would also like to see an "auto assign" button when first entering, i know i would use it.
