Glow Wine!
« on: December 17, 2006, 03:26:58 pm »
I have no idea how popular/known this winter time drink is outside Europe, but it is basically hot red wine with some spices and sugar in it, ideal to warm up on cold december evenings ;)

Well, on the base of a rather simple recipe I did some experimenting today and created a rather exotic, uncommon, yet great tasting mixture.

Dibo's Glow-Wine (the official Soldat'ers winter time drink)

Ingredients:
1 litre of red wine (better a light one, I dont recommend taking a "heavy" one or stuff like port whine)
1 stick of cinnamon (dried)
8 pieces of cloves
6 juniper berries (dried)
Ginger roots (volume of about half a forefinger)
1 dried date
6-10 pieces of sugar cubesonders

How to:
- peel the cinnamon stick into several pieces
- cut the ginger in a few pieces
- cut the date into 2 halves and remove the core
- put all the ingredients + the sugar into the wine and heat it up
- once its getting hot, start stirring until it starts boiling a bit
- do only let it boil a little bit (it should not boil like when cooking noodles) for about 2-3 minutes, keep stirring
- remove the heat, pur it into a pot through a sieve and let it cool down a bit, so you dont burn your mouth when drinking it
- ready!

Alternately you can put the ingredients into the whine some hours before youre planning to serve it (for example over night), that intensifies the taste.

CHEERS!

The only glowing drink I've had before was nuclear active, meh..
In the last two decades, political and civil rights have improved substantially throughout the world: since 1980, 81 countries have taken significant steps in democratization, with 33 military regimes replaced by civilian governments. But of these fledgling democracies, only 47 are considered full democracies today.

Because the majority of Soldat arn't minors or anything.

The majority of the Soldat Forum's community doesn't live in the United States and therefor do not have strictly enforced and undignified laws concerning alcohol consumption.
Unfortunately I'm one of the ones who do live in the U.S. so I'll just score some off of Smegma.

What's the age in Malta?  Like 14?  Or is that the legal age to marry your sister.  I forget.  But either way, knot's got a lot going for him.

Looks like mulled wine to me. I can't stand the stuff, it's like drinking liquid fruitcake, except slightly warm. It also may have the occassional clove floating around in it. Yechh.

I find it rather funny how a thread with a simple recipe turns into a discussion about the sex life of strange maltese people like knot O.o
