Maybe the article is out of date, but the concept is still current.  Eventually, these chips will be able to act as credit cards, GPS locaters, etc.  They might hold medical information like the person's blood type or insurance provider.

On the other hand, developers have decided that the forehead or hand would be the best place to put the chip, leading some people to believe that this is the "mark of the Beast" Revelations speaks about.  Who knows.

That's really where all of the controversy is.  Quite frankly, I simply don't want a chip in my body.
We have a fine system now with papers and information backed up on computers, so why must we try to do things that could be fast and efficient, but most everyone is against?  Most people that are against it believe this is what is talked about in Revelations while others are like me and just don't want that crap in their bodies.

As much as I'm all for technology and efficiency, this country is so dependant on technology that if something catastrophic were to happen and there would be no electricity, we wouldn't have a clue what to do with ourselves (well, not all of us).
