Actually it's the black outlines that are really bothering me.

1.If you'd OPEN the image and zoom, you'd see the shading. Though i guess i could make the shading stronger.

2.Where's the problem? I made 2 versions...oulined and without outlines.
Feel free to use the one without outlines and do it yourself ;).

Thanks for pointing those things out Valorman and Espadon.
Will try to improve.

Still, the 14 series guns are the best, since, sure, 24 is a 'different' gun, but you're going to get some 'wtf ripped off P90s' if you try to release the weapon in your game.

I was actually thinking of using the more traditional box mag (which goes under the receiver, rather than on top of the gun). It can take both, but the box mag is 20 rounds as opposed to the horizontal mag's 30. I'll see what I can do.

edit: Scratch that, I'm redesigning it. It was a rush job for something that never came about. I'm reworking it now.

Wouldn't the sideways rounds make the gun really wide and kinda hard to hold? Well, unless they've got a short length, in which case it'll probably be okay and pretty cool. I like the trigger and grip.

No it won't, since the grip is pretty far forward, and the fatter butt for spreading out recoil energy would make sense if it was really a "rocket SMG" (which is a odd idea in itself). Only problem i can think of is the rotating mechanism to rotate the rounds to the breech.

Oh well, I guess it's feasible since the HK G11 uses a mech that swings bullets 80 degrees from its near-horizontal magazine.

The rotating mechanism is in the mag, a la the P90, and the magazine is slightly wider than the width of the gun. It's meant to sort of pop out the side when released. The reason it uses rocket ammunition is because it's intended for zero-gravity use- the rocket bullets have almost no recoil. In space they would more quickly reach their maximum speed than on Earth, and since space engagements would probably be at longer distances anyway, they wouldn't lose too much in the way of effectiveness (as opposed to the Gyrojet.) The rounds are fairly large and burn quickly to increase their muzzle velocity (which would be different from their velocity at, say, 50 meters.)

The weapon is used by boarding crews and EVC soldiers. The standard weapon for use in artificial gravity is the AN-92 series (variations of 14-17).

The grip is a bit too close to the front end of the gun.

Judging by that pic, i'd say the weight of the gun is all at the back+plus the magazines full weight, which will make it hard to keep ones aim stable, because the gun will tend to lean back, given that the user's hand is frustrated from holding it up.

Not unless the weapon is of lightweight materials or anything like that.

In short, the grip should be moved a bit closer to the magazine, to make it easier to handle.

No, it doesn't work like that IRL. It's not a recoilless/bazooka design so there's no backblast port to equalize the jet pressure. Since the breech would be taking all of the force that the jets are kicking out, the soldier would be pushed backwards at quite an alarming rate in ZG. Would work better if turned into a recoilless shoulder mounted design.

Also slap a warning label since your weapon is obviously not an ignition-burn weapon (like the bazooka) and the continuous-burn jets would cause some heating if an unarmored soldier was using it. And, as Kev said, yeah, the gun is a bit too pugged.

Two things.
All the little hole in the sides serve the same purpose as the backblast port of a missile launcher. They leak most of  the energy from the rockets out. The remaining energy is used to recock the simple hammer mechanism.

Also, you're thinking of waaay too much force immediately at burn. Keep in mind these rockets are 15mm in diameter, by the time they leave the muzzle, relatively little of their energy has been expended- most is still contained in the round. While large for a small arms round, as far as rockets go, it's barely large enough to be practical for combat, and not at close range.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HoffTmg9bxU check out the recoil on this. There's not really any.

However, all of this is moot because I'm fudging it for Soldat. If you can use a minigun, you can use a rocket gun.

Remember, space use. Balance isn't an issue when firing. As for grip distance, it's about the same as the P90.

Are you suggesting, this weapon would ONLY be used in space?

Well it doesn't matter in soldat anyway ;).
If they can wield a minigun and a rocketlauncher at the same time and backflip to about 10 meters with ease, i don't think this will be a problem. :D

Sweet!  [retard]
Nice shading, almost looks real.

Can you replace the old one in the pic with this one?

PS: just finished another OMNI rifle.

Edit: Tried to make the new 24.
