Steak question!
« on: January 01, 2007, 07:06:43 am »
Alright, after much debate in IRC, I've taken the personal liberty of bringing this subject into the mainstream.

How do you like your steak?  There are only two options on the poll; rare or well-done.  I'm sure you all know as well as I do that there's NO middle ground when it comes to steak (But really, just pick whichever option is closest to your preference.  I could - in theory - make an option for every steak-cooking median, but then I'd get into another debate with the assholes in IRC concerning which extreme the results are closest to.)

Poll will last 5 days.  After the 5 days are up, the final result will be the conclusion to this long-winded and LAME debate.

I only say it's lame 'cos I already know what the outcome will be.

The lack of cooking options makes this steak poll worthless. I'll await the next, better thought out steak poll before casting a vote. :)

It doesn't need to be better thought out, because it would no longer pertain to the debate.  The question isn't "if you could have your steak any way", it's "pick one...OR ELSE!"

But for arguments sake-

Raw, Very-Rare, Rare, Medium-Rare = Rare
Medium, Medium-Well, Well-Done = Well-Done

pick a category.

How do you like your steak?

:-X :P

Given your expanded options, I vote medium-rare, though I can't quite do that with the way the poll is set up, but I'll stop being difficult. :P Well done steaks lack flavor over rarer ones.

I had chicken rare once....

As for steak, as burnt as possible without tasting really burnt, which is about well done.

Rare-ish. Blood for the family without the unneeded messes and explanations to police.

I voted well done. I don't eat steak much though.
I prefer chicken, lamb is neat...sometimes, and I eat quite a lot of pork.

I like rare to medium rare best, but I can handle medium to medium well. Just anything but well done (mmm leather) and raw or blue rare (mmm still mooing).

I like medium-well. Still juicy and hot, but with almost no chance of foodborne illness! Take that, salmonella!

And yes, I'm aware this goes against my personal text.

I like medium-rare but most restaurants are too retarded and decide to take it out of the package and throw it on my plate the way it came.  ALL I ASK IS A LITTLE RED IN THE MIDDLE!!!

Whoops, that'll end up getting quoted in somebody's signature.

If its good quality meat, then rare! ****ty restaurants, well-done.

When I'm in control, there is no other choice than rare.

Just because its raw or undercook doesn't mean you will get botulism or sick.

Well done(Med to Med-Well) the marinade and spices should give the steak the flavor, not the blood.

Marinades do, but you should still have that beefy flavor.

Cooking it too much ruins the texture and natural flavor of the meat. Marinades can only do so much.
