Your favourite/least favourite deafult ctf maps?
« on: January 06, 2007, 12:02:00 pm »
My favourite would have to be laos, kampf or nuubia. Laos because...I seem to play well on it for some reason, and nuubia and kampf because I love my boomstick ;D

Least favourites would be b2b due to the fucking low jetfuel (which is a shame because every time I play a clanwar, b2b is first ;Q) and equinox due to the seemingly endless amount of polybugs and again, the jetfuel is slightly too low.
 >:(

What about you guys?

Laos, B2B, Voland.

Then my least favorite would be ctf_Death2 (including ctf_Death). Way too simplistic.

Also, a tip: Add poll! ;)

Laos and Run are my favs. Laos is a good medium size, and Run's lower route is great to have firefights down in that tunnel.

My least favourite is B2B because the jet size is at just the right level for people to get a height advantage while you have to refuel (or vise-versa), so you have to time your flying well. You could say that's a good thing because it requires more calculation and judgement, but I find it more tedious than fun. I also don't like ctf_Death2 (including ctf_Death) as Toumaz said, its too simplistic.

Edit: WTF!? Why was I re-routed to the u13 page after posting?  :-\

My fav's are: Kampf, Laos, Nuubia

least fav's: b2b - the colors are annoyingly ugly, low jets, can't run through the hole map and live.
There are other worlds than these

ctf_Laos, ctf_Snakebite rock. The layouts are very fitting, and the atmospheres are quite possibly the best in Soldat.

Worst: ctf_Nuubia. The layout is very plain, rather easy to spray at quite some areas. The polygon vertices are extremely bland, and there's hardly any scenery at all. Even the name is spelled wrong (should be "Nubia" if it really is supposed to refer to the place in Egypt, and even then the atmosphere's inappropriate).

Favs:
Ctf_Kampf - Fast Action
Ctf_Maya2 - Fast Action and good shape (I like the middle courtyard)
Ctf_Ash - For botmatches
Ctf_Laos - Good Shape
Ctf_Nuubia - Very Fast Action, Good Coloring
Ctf_Lanubya - Very smooth, you get a good flow of movement in this one
Ctf_Viet - Very Fast Action
Ctf_Voland - Fast Action, good shape, fun overall.
Ctf_Crashed - Good Routes, Well Decorated

Bads:
Ctf_Snakebite - Too big, lack of routes
Ctf_B2b - Lack of routes, low jets
Ctf_Run - Too big
Ctf_Death - Poorly shaped, annoying game play
Ctf_Death2 - Wasn't an impressive remake at all
Ctf_Maya - Too big
Ctf_Dropdown - Sprayfest
Ctf_Dropdown2 - Poorly shaped
Ctf_Equinox - Polybugs, sprayfest, almost completely made up of tight hallways.

I got a big problem with big maps. I often die instantly by m79 or barret before killing someone as soon as I get close enough to the flag. Then I have to wait to respawn, and run all the way to the other side of the map and often repeating exactly what happened. It's also really hard to chase EFCs

Favorites:

Equinox -- Large yet fast moving map with lots of great ways to go about accomplishing objectives. Environment doesn't favor any particular weapon across the board, allowing success no matter what is chosen. My only gripe is the ability to "wall walk" along the edges, making EFCs more of a pain to engage than should be.
Nuubia -- Small asymmetrical map with great balance and heavy on the action. Nice clean graphics and the lack of scenery keeps the game moving at all times.
Voland -- Four separate routes to the flags and the map still allows for a high encounter rate thanks to the relatively small size and the various intersections throughout.

Least favorites:

Run -- Dull layout and sectioned off lower route makes for a low encounter rate and predictable movement all around.
Kampf -- Horribly unbalanced map which rewards camping and spraying far too much to be enjoyable or interesting.
Death2 -- Despite the small size and high encounter rate, it is a boring map with little to no strategy with its design. Cramped design with no cover make it a sprayer's paradise.
