A formal Thank-You to Avarax
« on: January 08, 2007, 06:22:01 pm »
I would formally like to thank Avarax for the invention of the Trench Wars Game mode. It is as of now my favourite mode to play on and I think it would be cool if MM would include it as an official Game mode in the next version.

Eh, Chariot has a point. You just posted two topics within eight minutes of each other, both of them not being very deep.

Although, Avarax has indeed invented/introduced the climb mode, aim training, trenchwars, single player, race, and counter strike subgamemodes, as far as I know.

He didn't invent race mode as far as I know. If memory serves, that was more of an SML-related handywork.

I agree with Radical. But did avarax really made singleplayer??
I was on the verge of making it but I'm not too good with urban mapping scenery

No, singleplayer was also done before him - Leo da Lunerfox had some mission maps, which were pretty rad to do, realistic + survival + 30 bots stationed in the right places = awesome.

Yes, Avarax, thank you for faulty maps full of polybugs and thin walls you can shoot and throw grenades through. I'm not saying I could do better.

Oh right, it was Soulsnipa who did inf_junglestrike, not Avarax. My mistake.

Junglestrike was SML's first complete project. All SML members at that time should be given credit especially Lunarfox/Droopy/Myself.

i think he's talking about hoverrace which is my newest invention and the most original imo :D

the slow (;D) usual race was invented by grand_diablo

well thanks alot, i am surprised though that you are thanking for TW, climbs and CS servers are way more popular, hoverrace is rising aswell ;Q

@cooz
kz_sky
followed by
kz_tower

those were the first 2 climb maps ever, after those other people started making them aswell (since automapdownload was implemented)

thanks for the thanking ;D

EDIT:
oh and i think i never made a singleplayer map

I'm pretty sure there were climb maps before auto download was implemented.. I remember playing some around the same time we had race mode. Also, he couldn't have been talking about hoverrace, because he posted the topic before you invented it xP

yes and those where kz_sky and kz_tower ;p

kz_sky was released even before that post on selfkill... it was 1.1.5 and of course there was no automapload ;)
i assure you it was the 1st one. i'd walk over hot coals for that.
