I just hate the really immature ones (which is about 99.999999999999% of the population) because tjey whine and bemoan when their hacks don't work as well as they're supposed to. Like when I shoot an airman hacker on TW right out of the air...Dont the fly hackers realise that theyre the easiest targets on TW becuase they're out in the most open place on the map...

Heh. Not meaning to go offtopic, but a funny little story about hackers.

So this one time, I'm hosting a server, when, out of the blue, a hacker comes gallomping on. Now, this guy starts trashtalking, spawn camping, and all that stuff hackers love to do. I ask him politely a couple times to stop, as I would alert the admin. I'll give you three gueses what he didn't stop doing. Anyways, I start killing him from console, and this bewildered idiot thinks I'm hacking. So, without further ado he puts out the 'ol '!admin' command to alert me that I'm required on my server (that I'm already playing)

It just gets better from there, but I won't put you readers through it.

My personal opinion on why people hack ? Limewire. That darn program has been turning people for years.

I don't think hackers really care what others think about them. They just hack to entertain themselves. People hack just as often in off-line games. You guys are making it sound like hackers are hacking to get your attention. They don't hack for YOU they hack for themselves and for their own amusement. People get bored of the game so they hack to make it more fun for themselves. All things get boring eventually, people crave variety.

There are all types of cheaters..

The Annoyer:
This type does it to piss ppl off, it turns them on when other players get pissed. Usually they make it very obvious they are cheating but will deny they are just piss ppl off some more.
Don't give them attention, don't let them know you care. Either quietly get an admin or leave if you actually care.

The Crybaby:
This one does it to gain an unfair advantage, they cant stand losing a battle and cheat to win. Of course this one will try to hide hes cheating and deny it when he gets caught.
It's also this type that always complains about lag and such, only in some severe cases they start cheating.

The Idiot:
His ultimate goal is the destruction of the game, by making everybody leave coz of his cheating(well thats what he thinks). Some individuals become this type after getting banned, usually coz of their own stupidity.

There are other types, but these are the most common ones I've encountered.

I've seen hacked .exe mods for games that put in extra features, fix bugs or allow for new game modes. Some hacks are acceptable (especially the ones MIT does!), and as long as it's not public, nobody really cares.

Geez, if you hack a shareware 2D shooter made by some guy in Poland, that's pathetic. Why not try breaking Steam? Get them to give you free games AND never have them find out about it WITHOUT using programs you didn't write by yourself using only your own code. That will prove you're more of a hacker than getting used as target practice by people like MofoNofo.

Hehe, if someone really actually figured out to break into to Steam. That will be incredible. He can unban every banned VAC member.

Hacking is for sure the most ridicolous thing existing in Soldat. It's poor.
I mean, who needs to hack in some shareware 2D shooter made by one guy? This game is so damn easy to play, i can't believe how somebody would need to hack. They are either too bad to play the game properly, or they are just attention whores who want you to see their great hacking skills.

I'd find it pretty emberrassing if everybody sees that I need to hack to get good skills. It's not worth downloading a game just for turning a hack on and then pwn them all because of your "skills" at haxing.

Afterall, hacking is just sad.

People only hack because they have nothing else to do, they have no life, and probably get beat up at school/work, and take their poorly anger problems on people in games.

A. Lack of skill.
B. They want to be noticed.
C. Or if someone is too good.

Either they find it enjoyable to terribly overpower opponents, can't play right, wish to enjoy the privileges of the hack or any number of a combination of the three. I know I take-em out though, unless them bums got aim bot. D8 Then I catch-em from afar. =P
