Animated sigs?
« on: January 11, 2007, 01:07:49 pm »
Bunney has an animated sig, I personally have no trouble with this, its size is legal and the animation isn't really annoying or eye-sight attracting, if you know what I mean. Perhaps sigs with only slightly animated pictures should be allowed?

Where do we draw the line on "slightly animated"?  Please clear that up for me.

like if you have a .gif with a few pictures that cycle every 30 seconds or something like that.

Anything that doesn't flash annoying spammy color switching crap is fine for me, sigs don't distract until they are way too big and just take up space.

the fact is that Bunney's signature means just as much without the animation as it does with it.  The extra moving heart is there for no reason other than to draw attention to the signature, which is exactly why we don't allow them.

You can have this in a "legal" way.. Use a php script. I have one for my avatar.

The rules on Soldat forums are quite strict on the Sig part I suppose. But I like it like this, its perfect imo, one forum where I'm quite active, do only allow a few lines of text.

Others I've been to have no rules and ppl post 160x240++ images of SHIT in flashing colors etc.

Sure animated sigs could be nice, but when I'm on the forums I'm there to read what ppl are posting and not look at the shiny sigies.
