Scenery...

How do you place scenery in your maps (with mapmaker)?

I tried everything the manual told me to do. Don't say "Install it in your Soldat folder, noob", because I did and nothing happens. Don't say "Polyworks is better", because I like using easy mapmaker and not big complicated things like PolyWorks.

Hmmm, I haven't used map maker in so long and since you seem to have denied my other reply options I'll just have to refer you to the map maker manual.

lol. The dark side will pull you over eventually. I refrained from PW for months, but now... it is the BOMB, man 8) But anyways, since you don't like that...

just select a scenery from the list in the Scenery tab to the right and click Create. You will then be given a half-transparent scenery to place. Click once, and click again to seal in its rotated form. If you want to change the transparency or level, do it before you place a scenery graphic, since scenery in MM is unselectable.

If you can't for any reason select scenery from the list in the tab, you didn't install it in your Soldat folder correctly, noob.

(Sorry, I just had to ;D)

Neither of you helped. I CANNOT ****ING ADD THE SCENERIES TO THE LIST. Especially you, Plonk, wouldn't you ASSUME that I read the manual?

PolyWorks is too complicated. I like nice, simple, easy stuff, not stuff that takes 3 months to learn.

Anyone who has a brain may now post something other than spam please.

You are the one who doesn't have brains :-*. Install the mapmaker in ur soldat folder and try again.
If that doesn't work, try reinstalling mapmaker.

Hm, you ask for help and then yell at the people who are trying to help you. A genius idea! I ought to try that some time ;)

The MapMaker program should be in Soldat\MapMaker. Where are your files located at precisely, within the folder?

The mapmaker was installed in the Soldat folder. It is there now and was never moved.

The sceneries are all in the scenery folder and were never moved. I yell because you all don't read my post and you just suggest things I have already done which is annoying.

I read your posts. I never asked where your sceneries were. As long as they're in scenery-gfx and as long as you can see the graphics when you play an official map, that's where they should be.

Is there an error that shows up when you try to select scenery or is there simply no scenery whatsoever in the list?

Isn't there a preferences window where you set the soldat directory?

ok number one. if its not working and youve tried everything, use something besides mapmaker and besides polyworks. i believe there is a mapmaker called openmapp that might help you.

Ok. You got it Keron. There are no sceneries in the list when I try to get them in...

Jettlarue, openMapper is no longer available for download. I tried, trust me.

Please, refrain from yelling at people who try to help you.

As Keron pointed out, the problem might be that your mapmaker isn't in the Soldat/MapMaker folder. Re-install it, that should help.

( But the best solution would be polyworks. Making maps with mapmaker is like mowing the lawn with goats. )

Read the first post Demonic. I don't want to use Polyworks, and yes I did install it in the Soldat folder and it hasn't moved. You have to read ALL the posts to understand the topic and what not to do.

Well then, I'm sorry to say that, altough you have provided all the information necessary, we cannot help you, and you will die without making any maps.

And it works! :D Takes years, but meh.

That's the thing, Thomas. You did place it incorrectly. If scenery displays in-game, scenery-gfx is in the correct spot and you needeth not touch it. Here, I'll go download MM+ right now (BTW, use MapMaker Plus; it has a ton more features than MM and yet maintains its simplicity) and check.

...

Okay, you see MapMaker.exe, the folders 'gfx,' etc.? Move all that into a folder called MapMaker in the directory (so you'd find it by going to Soldat\MapMaker) and tell what happens.

Ok, before I do it, is this what I needed to do?

Create a folder called MapMaker.
Move Scenery-gfx into the folder.
Install Soldat MapMaker in the MapMaker folder.

?

Ok, I'll take a search for MM+, and thank you Keron, you helped me alot.

Edit: No fair, it didn't come up :(

Create a folder called "MapMaker," (actually, you can name it anything you want) but do not move the scenery-gfx into there - just leave those two folders in the Soldat Directory.

Only the Mapmaker should be in the Mapmaker folder.
