W7 64bit & Soldat 1.5 don't mix together
« on: March 19, 2010, 05:10:49 pm »
hey dudes i have windows 7 64x Bit Edition and my soldat is going nuts. its like random crashes (Access Vio. / Soldat stoped working) im really pissed/sick off it when my soldat is crashing all 10 mins. you cant play like 10 mins in a row, i have no idea where it comes from and how the crashes are produced. PLEASE release a patch!!!! its so f***ing annoying. btw on 1.5.1 it works there are no crashes 4 me.

if your answer is like: "then use windows xp" -> gtfo!

Actually, I ran fraps while being on other server and I even started recording. I was amazed that I wasn't kicked for DirectHook.

Disable Fraps. BattlEye detects that as a cheat.

Fraps isnt the point. fraps works fine with soldat for some reason. i dont get Battleye kicked i get Soldat stoped working/coundt not respond and that shit

"windows 7 64x"

It works fine on my 32 bit. You should change your title to "W7 64bit & Soldat 1.5 don't mix together"

I'm on Windows 7 64 bit and experience the same crashes. Sometimes I'll go a few days without getting them at all; other days I'll get several in a single 30 minute clan war. It's terribly frustrating, especially during important matches.

There was a topic some months ago that suggested that BattlEye instead of Soldat itself was to blame, but I don't think that Sable has made any inroads into the matter.

works sorta OK on my win7 x64
however Soldat it not compatible with win7
you can try:
~ disable UAC or run it with admin privileges
~ disable DEP
~ install DirectX 9
~ run it in XP compatibility mode
~ and stop using fraps - it's total shit

also about anti-aliasing: EnEsCe turned it off for windows vista/7 (for some absolutely unknown reason), however you can still make it work via video driver (from catalyst control center if you've got ATI)

Wierd, 1.5 works flawlessly on my install of W7 Ultimate 64 bit.

Stuff that could be relevant

  • Using an nvidia 8600GT
  • Installed it from 1.3.1, then patched
  • Copied battleye files, maps, textures, scenery directly across from my vista backup

I experience the same crashes. It's very annoying. Sometimes I can play a day without a crash, the other days it crashes multiple times per clanwar (yesterday we lost a map because my Soldat crashed while I was holding a flag, and the flag returned to the enemy's base..)

I use Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. As a temporary measure I installed XP with dual-boot Windows 7, so at least I can play important matches without crashes.

As chutem stated, it does help to have some basic information about your PC when dealing with this kind of thing.

I have a windows 7 x64 bit install on another hard drive in my computer, and it works flawlessly. Works better than on vista x64, i might add.

For those of you who are having problems, try completely uninstalling soldat from your pc. (after running the uninstall, go back and delete any left over folders) and try reinstalling it again. leave all config settings as they are when you first install, and see if that helps. if it works, try turning things up until you receive crashes, if any. That might help to find the problem.

Also, make sure you have DirectX9.0c installed, whatever operating system you might be on

You're still getting crashes? That's weird. My crashes stopped entirely after BE was removed. What kind of errors are you getting exactly?

Some debugging stuff with Shoozza and the problem is solved after disabling the auto-demo.

In my opinion, recording demo causes access violations on Win7 64bit with some systems.
Thanks Shoozza.
