Unreal Mod Preview...

Yeah, so I was making Unreal Mod for some time... and I think it's in the right stage of development to post some (AKA Just showing weapons+gostek :P) screens, well, here they are:

Weapons:


Yes, I know that some weapons cover up others. I'm currently working on fixing that, it won't be like that once I'm done :)
(Current weapon roster includes, Alt means alternative fire. * indicates that weapon comes from the "Return To Na Pali" expansion pack):
Slot 1, double pistols -  Dual Automag/Dual Dispersion Pistols
Slot 2, single pistol - Automag(Alt)/Dispersion Pistol(Alt)
Slot 3, machine guns - Stinger/CAR*
Slot 4, RPGs and other long-range explosives - ASMD(Alt)/CAR(Alt)*/Eightball Launcher
Slot 5, shotguns - Flak Cannon/Stinger(Alt)
Slot 6, long range weaponry - ASMD/Razorjack
Slot 7, short-range explosives - Eightball Launcher(Alt)/Flak Cannon(Alt)/GES Bio Rifle(Alt)/Grenade Launcher*
Slot 8, sniper rifles - Assault Rifle
Slot 9, grenade launchers - GES Bio Rifle/Grenade Launcher(Alt)*
Slot 10, Minigun - Minigun/Minigun(Alt)
Secondary Slot 1, Single Pistol - Automag/Dispersion Pistol
Secondary Slot 2, Knives - Nali Short Knife, Skaarj Dual Blade -------\____Both not started. Not even interface graphics
Secondary Slot 3, Arm Equpiment - Skaarj Hand Blade, Bandages-- /
Secondary Slot 4, RPG - Rocket Launcher

Gostek's

Skaarj Scout (Awaible already coloured and in gray scale!)

Well, comments? Thoughts? More coming soon! :)
I plan to change most of the sounds, add new weapons.ini and at least 4 new gosteks (Male Prisoner, Female Prisoner, Skaarj, Mercenary)

It looks good... personally I'd have set the ASMD as the Ruger not the AK and I'd set the automag as MP5, since it's automatic.

Are those weapons resized?

cool! i alwaysed owned with the flak canon when i played Unreal as a kid...

Ure right some are pretty big. But honetly, this is ownage.

Only thing I dislike is the sniper rifle - too slim IMHO, otherwise its pretty cool mod.

EDIt: the gostek is nothing special.

@Mangled - I'm not sure if I you can say it's resized or not... what I did, is first I resized a picture, then used it and a normal picture as a guide. Also, if you not only look at the pictures but read what I wrote below, you would notice that there is option to use Automag as HK MP5 (I believe it's semi-auto, not auto :P). And the ASMD will be able to be set as ruger. Since Unreal didn't have as many autos as soldat does (Only Stinger, Minigun and CAR), only weapons in slot 3 and 10 will be autos.

@zaerdna - Hey, Flak Cannon is my favourite gun :)

@Dairy - Hmm, I could try and see if I can make the sniper rifle a little bit fatter. I'm not any good at making gostek's, that's the first one I ever made :<

Ok, there are some weapons too near from others, but thats not a big problem

I specially like Eightball and Bio Rifle, looks so good
But in general the shading of all the weapons is a bit, dark.
Could you try to fix some weapons, and making a bit lighter?

I can't really be bothered to re-shade them completly... I could try to make them lighter in some more advanced gfx program than paint :p but I think they will look strange...

Ehhmm... lots of us use MS Paint, and i don't think that we make bad quallity shading, keep trying you'll see that is usefull, then if you know how to make your style well, try with photoshop, but paint is good for a starting

Shading in paint is inefficient and wasteful. If you know what you're doing in Photoshop you can shade a weapon in about 5 minutes.

Now, I'm guessing your images are shot from UnrealEd and then resized... in reality it's bad practice. Some weapons turn out okay but some don't and they really lose detail. What I do is in paint draw the shape of the gun with 2 or 3 general colours to indicate different parts... then I put it into photoshop and shade, alter hues etc.

It may be worth looking into using something other than paint.

..the weapons are kinda dark in unreal..it wouldnt be so unrealish if the wapons was lighter..i like them as it is not only the Dual automag is to big but nice very nice..

Ok zaerdna, in unreal the weapons may be dark, but you can appreciate the details there not much, so the problem is that if you do too dark weapons, the details won't see clearly

ya but not to light either i think so dark as the chainsaw is thats how dark the weapons will be..

Meh... I don't really have time anymore to work on this mod... Anybody willing to help on it? There's not much left to do. A marine gostek, all in-game weapon graphics, weapons.ini (Which I will help you on, not only tell you how everything supposed to be, but also help you test the balance) and weapon sounds (I have them pretty much done, just need to change their names :P). Anybody willing to help? Otherwise, it will take me some time before I finish this :P

It's a shame if you're giving up on it this early. Take your time and work on it in your own pace, don't feel forced to make it right away. I'm really intrested ho it'll turn out in the end as I'm myself working on a UT mod.

I don't like it, sorry.   first glance wasn't good enough and now you arent even going to continue your mod.  I hope it gets finished anyway, just to see the perfected version of these awesome textures and shading!
