Steyr Aug -> FG42
« on: April 12, 2008, 09:54:48 pm »
This is a re-release of my FG42 mod for Soldat.

It is a weapon skin replacement of the Steyr. It includes sound effects (taken from RtCW, I believe) along with the weapon graphics themselves. Screenshot below. The files are attached to this post.

It was originally going to be part of a complete weaponskin modification, and I started with my favorite rifle, the Fallschirmjägergewehr 42 (FG42). A bit of info about this lovely weapon:

The Fallschirmjägergewehr 42 (FG42) was an automatic rifle produced in Nazi Germany during World War II. The weapon was developed specifically for the use by paratroopers, who wanted a suitable gun after their experiences in the invasion of Crete. As a result, the FG42 was developed. It could fire single shots semi-automatically, but also serve as a light support weapon. Its development was authorized by Hermann Göring. The FG42 was manufactured and deployed only in small numbers. - Wikipedia

The weapon had a few flaws, such as the side-mounted magazine and considerable muzzle rise, but it was known to be exceptionally accurate and very sexy.

Enjoy.

looks okay.  The end bit is a little fat.  Shading is pretty simple.  In-game though, I like.  But not worth my time downloading.  I might some day if I get really bored. ;)

You don't should say this Trig,  or some of us said something like to your 'weapons' ?

I really like it, but you should put more wooden parts.
Why you re-relased it with that difference of time? (in comparation with soldatmods)

Ïn bloody hell ! [pigtail]

This one is pretty old and I guess its somewhere on forums already (maybe in the old forums).

Still Its one oldschool masterpiece and I guess I still have it on my HDD. I used this weapon as one of the 1st mods for soldat I found. Pretty awesome work even with time. I loved the sounds. I always hated the left part and IMHO it was too fat, but without that its a great weapon.

The FG-42 is great (I've used it in other games about WWII like Brothers in Arms)
If I remember well, it has a 20-round magazine, amazing accuracy and deals solid damage.

Yes i heard of that weapon. It was going to be the replacement of the feared STG-44 and MP40.
It was never mass-produced as Germany had lost its former industrial power at the end of the war.

Its seen in a lot of the World-War-2 sci-fi games like "Return To Castle Wolfenstine" and "Turning Point". My personal favourite was Wolfenstine as it fitted very well with the experimental German Minigun 'venom'.

Turning point however was absolute pants! But i am not here to discuss other games!  :P

it was designed in 1942, German Kommandos under the command of Otto Skorzeny were the first to use the FG42 during the risky rescue of Benito Mussolini.
