For those of you saying "Just click the watch in high quality button", that only appears on (mostly) newer videos that actually have that option available from the start. For most of the older ones, you'll need to add the &fmt=18 code manually. This is from my experience, anyway.

Doing &fmt=18 on a video that lacks the high quality link should stream the same low quality version.
TbC your example isn't very good, try taking screens at the same point in the vid so we can compare properly, it looks like two completely different areas.
Hmm, seems to me like its some kind of sharpen filter. Must be something that they are experimenting with.
