Well then let's make a poll, or expand on the current thread, to point a question at the mapper; Do they want this for their maps, and are they 100% sure they can actually pull it off?

Funny, because I'm actually still not sure what my final opinion is. :D

Like I said - there are cons and pros, and the question is if the pros are significant enough to make it worth adding this feature.

If it's not a difficult thing to do - it wouldn't hurt adding it. But I doubt this feature will be useful often enough - it needs a skilled mapper and/or a good enough idea to make uneven jet fuel work with the map.
To me it seems it'll be more useful in custom gamemodes (zombie matches especially) rather than in normal maps.

F11 for one simple reason; maps are supposed to be balanced between teams...There's never a a single one point where one team has an automatic advantage over the other...

Infiltration maps could be great like this.. instead of blue's just camping in red's base, they cannot get inside!

Use that big melon attached to your neck and think...
What if I was chasing a flagger, and due to my jets falling short, I can't get him?
And no matter what game mode, if you're trying to get your own flag back, you're allowed to camp bases.
It's lam,e but not against the rules.

I dont mind basecampers that kill the flagrunners/hunters, I do mind basecampers that either: Spawnkill, Do not allow the other team to even leave the base.

You people forget that if a map is unbalanced, PEOPLE WON'T PLAY IT. That vast majority of new maps don't get played anyway; the way to go from here is up. This will at least offer the opportunity for new gamemodes to spring up, and player selection will let the s**tty ones die. It's win-win.

Honestly, complaining about potential balance problems is like saying the the ability to alter weapons.ini would ruin Soldat because you can make all of the weapons overpowered. It makes just as little sense. Yes, a few people did it (and still do) but the few servers that use those configurations DON'T REFLECT ON ALL OF SOLDAT. Plus, given that it takes significantly more effort to make a map than a weapon stat mod, you'd probably see less people just dicking around with it. If you're willing to invest the time it would take to edit these settings, you're probably going to try and make a decent map.

Why not just create team based polys or something? This gives you more mapping freedom, without disrupting combat mechanics.

ie a red wall does not collide for alpha team,  but collides for every other team etc
