« on: November 29, 2016, 01:29:28 pm »
i belive this is "must have" feature
since every other game has it
dont even need explanation
i believe u can even sell items for customizing.
this may sounds awesome or stupid but
this is actually one of the good ideas to make soldat popular and get more people

And it should be as customizable as latest The Sims currently offers (joking here, don't go this way, do NOT consider this! xD)!

The thing is that these soldiers are actually very small and this is never going to change. Either it's 480p or 4K they still gonna look small so these "customizble things" won't be much noticed. It worked well in CS:GO where you buy skins for weapon because one is occupying most of your screen. In Soldat those would be just few pixels.

I actually could use some elaboration. There are quite a few character customizing options already (hat/hair, chain, clothes, jetflame), which additional ones do you have in mind (that actually would be noticeable - referring to machina's post)?

None of those would be really visible as most people think.

For real customization, gostek need some real work "under the hood" before you could really think about adding new graphic.
As I mentioned in other topic it would need some testing  with different size(2-7% bigger) It need less contour that it have now to fit new graphic style, and because of that some more delicate shading on all gostek parts.

For now, most of players probably use 17"-28" screens, and even if soldat is "made for 4k" on 4k / 28inch screen its still look the same as older gostek, I dont see BIG difference, and new player(tested on two people) dont see any difference between gostek from older and new version: "its just small pixelated guy". When you zoom 4k screenshoot on lower screen res(1080p) its look cool, but in real life difference is almost invisible for most of player.

When we could manage to make gostek bigger without loosing Soldat style/atmosphere there only few major customization that it would need, beside eg different top(tank top, jacket with hood) some new hairs/hats.

1. Gostek need more dynamic effect, especially boot flames that always looked like crap. Amount of particles should be WAY bigger, and some additional coloring/fading should be added(+some modification in sound, eg start, end effect, pitch differences etc, of course it would be really shorts sounds, less than half of sec, but those small addons give game "feel" of good made product).

2. Similar with blood, more detailed hurt effect, because for example current one on legs look like two brown dots, and blood splashing is not that great, so again, people like bloody batch in every game, so more detailed blood splashes, maybe even different walking animation when player is hurt really bad(some hobble walk?) should be added.

3. Dynamic element of clothes, just like chain and dreadlocks, that would be sticked to other main elements. Its good way to hide some obvious part connections that look weird in some positions. So for example jacked would have few small elements under belt that would look like gun holster/ammo pouch, or small elements on bulletproof west that would look like stripes/clips, or mentioned hood on jacked that would move like real hood.

And for people who think that modifications are useless.  Basic knowledge of games and players in 2016 year:
-People like statistics, thats why most of games have build in stats of shoots, kills, fav weapon, map etc, etc. Basic system of statistic is must have in 2016(even as simple text based file that gather info about player behavior, without any account system, but show it in player profile)
-People love customization. Hats, or even lame and simple colors of guns. People are even willing to pay HUGE money for that, even if most of that crap for CS:GO look like normal texture that someone used Paint spray tool on few places.

Maybe game doesnt need much of that, but some basic modifications are need to be added if you aiming to gather new players.

Weapon skins and sounds, nade explosions and sound, voice sound pack (would need voice actors though), spawn effect, character effects (such as "flaming", "steaming", or "glittery/blingy") character effects for kill streaks (like "burst steam", or "fireworks" from your character when you get double/triple/multi/etc-kill.
Things like capes, scarves, hats, jet effects, and maybe ground walking effects, should be visible for gostek changes.

All of this requires there to be an account system though.
People could change their interface by simply changing local files. They could do the same with all of the other cosmetics too, but a large part of cosmetics is to show off for others.

Don't make Soldat a CS.
The biggest charm of Soldat is that it is freaking simple, not overbuilded. This game is focused on gameplay, not playing Sims character creation. The clue and centre of this game is MAKING BAM, MAKING BOOM into enemies heads. Not making a doll from your soldier.

Of course, some additional options would be fine, but don't drift away with your prepositions, guys. Due to bigger resolution of gosteks we can make more "accurate" screens and these would be nicer, if we'd have for eg. option to have t-shirt (simple, without any decorations, color selection is enough to me) instead of full jacket, some new hats (maybe hockey mask? ;) ), maybe different boots style (jet sneakers are awesome).

Some fancy ones, okay, but not in massive numbers. Just 1-2 additional positions in comparison to current state.
Second thing would be, indeed, male/female selection. Because why not?

After all creating your gostek, if you aren't a new player, takes now about 3 minutes, if you know what do you want, including choosing a name, setting all visual options and even key binding.
3 minutes and you can click "Join" or "Start game" and kill people. This is the most beautiful thing in this game. Simplicity. Don't fuck it up.

And the second thing, I find that Akinaro has is right.

Izzy you're missing the point. These things are for collecting, and possibly as a way to earn money for the devs.

People will want fancy shit. I would be really happy if I could get special spawn, kill, cap effects, and jet effects.

I think those would be the things people wants the most. Gostek changes probably too, but those would be minor, less  "status" things.

All f2p games have costumes etc, that's how the survive, and sometimes how they keep players, since the game gets more goals and variance.
