I GOT A REALLY COOOL map.

its my first map so don't go hard on me and to make it unique it goes up instead of down, that makes brvo team have and adveantage so i put in secret tunnels and alot of sationary guns. Not much scenary though.I'm confident that it will be as popluar as Poland and it took me 12 hrs to make! Although it was my first map. So it will have some glitches here in there but it wont affect gameplay. it is also loaded with secrets, it will take sometime to master unless your a cheater and look at the skeleton!!

Here is what I call the bogey area, although it doesn't serve a purpose it wastes time.

I hope you guys like it, and tell me any advice for future projects!

Nice map but you could cut "white" in the screens. First map, am I true?

I'm sorry but this map looks like nothing more than a 15 minute job, it sucks in every aspect, but its your first map so just keep making some and get polyworks.

polyworks doesn't work on Vista and maybe for you but not for me, and im sure i can make it better. Just because you can put alot of scenary and make it look nice doesn't mean it has good gameplay, that was what i was looking for, not to make it look good.

Yr just stating negative sayings but yr not saying why!!! Why doesn't it have good gameplay? I think Ctf_Run didn't put too much time into it, but it's popular.

It may look like unfinished here but it's not, i can't tell anymore , i think I've already said to much....

Hmm....what should I say?...Sry but it looks HORRIBLE!...How much time did the map take??
When u want to be a good mapper you have to learn a lot more, like:

1.Nice shading
2.More unique polygon-placement (not so borring like in your map)
3.put a lot more creative ideas in your map
4.NICE SCENERY-PLACEMENT!

.............


Then you will maybe become a good mapper
So make another maps and get some mapping skillz ;)

all i can suggest is that you look at some other people's maps to get a glimpse of the best. Learn from other established mappers.

try these for starts. especially the 1st one. the maps will give you a good example of what it takes to be the "best map."

It looks like you were trying to come up with something innovative but it doesn't really work. Since you went off and compared them, I might as well say that I think this and ctf_Run had similar amounts of time invested into, but this is completely irregular in the layout of standard CTF maps—it looks more like an Inf. map, or one that pertains to a special gamemode like RCE or KZ more than anything else.

I downloaded it. It is missing a lot of scenery and textures; I cannot see _bigtree2.bmp, _bigtree.bmp, _pillar3.bmp, or the textures used (the terrain is flat gray, red, etc.). The deadly-polygons are really weird for a CTF map which further makes me think this should be KZ or RCE (climb, or race map). The polygon colors are unvaried, the texture is not stretched whatsoever (makes it look boring), the background colors are too bright, the vegetation does not fit the atmosphere presented, etc. IMO, the small bottom-right area (if its polygons' badly connected vertices were fixed, its textures stretched, more colors than just white were used, and scenery were added) could be an interesting CTF. The hidden path, although pretty cool, could be abused a lot, and there are just way too many stat. guns riddled on the map; one already is extremely powerful, but nine?, and two, or three which are completely useless?

I do not doubt that you have spent a lot of time on this, but I highly suggest placing more emphasis on: layout, layout, and layout (you are definitely not alone, since layout is what usually makes or breaks a map); polygonal colors and stretched textures (to keep away from blandness, and to give 3D effects); and more prevalent and unique scenery use, in ways like stretching some, rendering some transparent, and using different levels (placing some scenery behind the player, others in front, etc.).

Also PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pretty Pretty PLEASE!!!!!!! Put this on one of your servers and tell me the ip and port and stuff. PLEASE!! I really want to play this with other players!!
Host it on your own server and let players come.

Both links don't have any really GOOD maps in. (sry VTT)
A good map should include great gameplay. Good look is just a minor matter. First there comes gameplay.

Ontopic: This map is s**t. really. Sorry that I have to say that but it's true. first: it's ctf. Even if the blue never let the red cap their flag, they'll never be able to cap the red flag. never. Change it to inf (even then it sucks). second: for "best" map visuals should at least reach standart. (Third: first map is shit everytime ;) ).

Continue mapping :)
