What were, in your opinion, the best games of 2008? End of the year thought this was appropriate. Any system, any order, not necessarily just one. I liked SSBB, Super Paper Mario, probably a few others I will think about later.

I liked Fallout 3.  It ended rather suddenly, so now I have to load up my savefile and play through all the stuff I missed (I took the Explorer perk at level 20).

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
so clearly jgrp is a goddamn anime connoisseur. his opinion might as well be law here.

Yeah Fallout 3 was really good. Left 4 Dead is good too.

I thought the Explorer perk was kinda stupid, so I took Grim Reaper's Sprint.

I would've add Grand Theft Auto 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4 but they were very disappointing in my opinion.  I think if they were delayed for several more months to fix several flaws, they could've been perfected.

In that sense, the only game I've played all year that really impressed me was LittleBigPlanet.  It's highly original, unique, addicting, and fun.  Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway and Super Smash Brothers Brawl were also pretty good, despite several annoyances.

And yes, I'm incredibly hard to impress.  Despite magazines and critics, there is no game in my list that has a perfect score.  I just don't believe such a thing exists, every game has a flaw, one way or another.

Dead Space was pretty awesome in my opinion. Straightforward, atmospheric, tight controls, nice graphics. Not the best of this year, but definitely worthy of mention.

I say CoD 5, because:

1) Got the last one yesterday... (YAY!!!!)
2) Same engine as CoD 4, except I like WWII.
3) Zombieeeeee.

Wow, someone liked Age of Conan? Didn't think that happened.

If we go by time played and overall enjoyment factor, probably Left 4 Dead. I've probably played it at least 50 hours, and still a ton more to go since I've got about 15 achievements left to get.

Mirrors edge for its original art style.
Left 4 Dead in terms of arcade style replayibility awesomeness.

Wow, someone liked Age of Conan? Didn't think that happened.
I wasn't just looking for a reason to hate it because it gets compared to wow.  I started before the worst problems occured and stopped after a month, I had so much fun, enjoyed it all the way, and I didn't want the startup problems to get to me, so i decided to take a break and start when the game is a little more developed. now i'm itching to start again.
the trick is to have fun in the game, I think it was a nice contrast from soldat. I play soldat to own, and I played conan for fun, and graffics was something else then soldat :p
