Heh, it looks like they just took stereotypical parts of ancient Japanese culture and made them look flashy; I almost laughed when a bunch of soldiers wearing ricers burst out of the pavement. Even so, there's no denying that it looks pretty darn sweet.
That's pretty much what Red Alert 3 is about. It's reeeally stereotyped. But that only makes it fun. ;P
Oh wow, how could I have forgotten Elfen Lied? There were quite a few scenes in it that were pretty shocking in either their graphic nature or explicitness, and it really hits you because, for example, when a bunch of people are about to get massacred, you know it's going to happen and you just have to sit there and wait for it. Or when they're revealing Kohta's life as a kid, gaps get filled in so quickly that you just kind of have to stare and take it in. I'll have to watch it again to be sure, but I think Elfen Lied is up there in my list of favorite animes because of moments like that.
Elfen Lied is so disturbing that I'm seriously afraid for my mind. That's why I never watched it - had enough of trailers and random GIFs found on the net. :S
