Radio commands able to bind to taunts?

During team play I want to inform my team mates about efc or enemies and so on, I've got custom taunts or radio commands for that since version 1.5.

I've been playing lots recently and noticed that I just cant be arsed to use the radio commands because they are tedious to access during a fast battle.
So I keep using custom taunts instead.

Suggestion!

Now how about being able to bind radio commands to taunt shortcuts?
Have a certain line be put in at the taunts.ini that invokes a certain radio command and bind it to any key you want.

It would make them a little more usable and faster, which is important.

Already implemented that in 1.5.0. * is the radio sign, followed by 2 numbers, for each of the radio menu numbers you'd press to get that sound.. For example, *11Enemy Flagger Up! The 11 just means in the menu, you press 1, then 1 again, and that's the sound you're taunt will bind to.

$killer$ would stand for name of the player who had recently killed you.
There could be several other, like: %victim%; %target%...
It's just a suggestion and it's probably hard to implement...dunno though.

Indeed, merging taunts and radio is possible (although I discovered that by accident). For example, for "Flagger Up" custom taunt would look like this:
*11Fatty escaping up! Get'im!
Also, there's no need for "^" symbol, because * symbol already sends message to teamchat.

I was thinking about that idea too ever since I saw bots using "Die, *player name*". %target% can be used for player which you're aiming at. This would make possible to give specific orders to certain players like "Meg4N00b, cover me!" or "-<EliteSnipah>- camp low" which could be very useful.

Interesting, looks like you all were a step ahead of me. :P
An old time player like me barely looks at new manuals and still uses the old selfkill taunt edit v2 to fix his taunts.

But thats bloody great, I'm off to fix up my taunts.

i'd like to see more radio slots though, not even necessarily appearing in radio menu, just more radio slots to connect them with taunts

The taunts can add a lot to the game i agree. But the point about having a few seconds to do one while you respawn can be a little tough. Even some hot keys to get to them so only one key is needed to taunt someone would be cool.

I'd thougt maybe voice thingies could be sticked with taunts.
We could make a few well familiar and used taunts, record it and have a system getting it together so when you use for example: ALT+A - "EFC MID", It will also state it on radio!

Also it should be self-modified available so people could had they're own taunts.

Is it possible EnEsCe?

IIRC you can modify radio commands. And if you do - remember it's client-side. No one else will notice the change.

 Take it a step further though, Maybe, And like Quake include %location or %item as well. So you'd have the option of say, "Enemy flagger's here at %location'

That would probably involve map format change, since maps would need to contain information about different zones (unless it's made in such a way where you have to place zone markers yourself).

A better way might be a map marker or an arrow. If you played some of the Battlefield game series, you could aim at the target and use a "target spotted" taunt, which marks its location on the minimap and everyone can see it on their maps for a few seconds. Soldat could have something similar since it also has a minimap (although as a registered-only feature it would somewhat unbalance the game for those with free versions).

 This is the reason why I also love A.V.A. and what I'd like to see in more soldier-oriented games. :D

I wanted this too and made a post about it awhile back...
heres a hint that i learned you can just type /t /d /l to taunt, dance, laugh
its a little bit faster but yeah i agree with you
