Extra weight in WWII wasn't exactly frowned upon; it helps keep your gun steady, especially if it is a light machine gun. Take a look at the tommy gun for instance. This replacement looks sweet, I think it's better fit in the Steyr slot myself, but it doesn't matter. Today with composites and all the extra equipment we give each soldier the lighter the weapon, the better.
