1.4 weapon graphics look brighter!
« on: April 30, 2007, 03:18:53 pm »
Unfortunately, copying the Weapons-gfx files from the 1.3.1 version doesn't change exactly to what it was.
For some reasons, most graphics look darker/more contrasted than in 1.3.1... but the polygons look exactly the same.

Here's what we get by replacing the barrett bullet grahics by the 1.3.1 in 1.4.
First screenshot has been taken in 1.3.1, second one in 1.4.

Can anyone explain? (MM? Flab? FBI?)

I think they are programmed to be generated brighter for "more visibility"

Transparency is dependent on the strength of the bullet, so the Barrett is entirely opaque.

I like the brightness. if you change it the transparency will make the bullet totally invisible if you change it to 1.3.1 mod

Yeah, I've noticed this while trying to do some richo's ; but also the bullet is bigger and may look brighter.

This doesn't explain why the gostek are brighter too!

I think Michal M. modified something in the rendering engine. But he didn't write anything about it in the manual (it's not the first time heh).
Also the trails don't seem to be as good/long/visible as in 1.3.1.

@Kavukamari: you're totally off-topic. I'll reply though:
1) Use F10/Pause.
2) Basically "if the bird doesn't sing, I'll make it sing", reflecting Toyotomi Hideyoshi's way of mind.
3) I already mentioned that in the News forums, as Michal didn't wrote about it in the change log either. ;)
It seems not many people noticed it anyway.

The screen shot from 1.4 below is using a custom 1.3.1 bullet mod. (download it here)
