What are these map names ?
« on: May 03, 2007, 04:55:27 am »
Hello,
I've been visiting soldat.pl page recently and I saw promo-screenshots - http://www.soldat.pl/pl/screens.html

My question is - what are these map names ? I didn't see them in newest soldat except one - ctf_Conquest.

I'm a little bored with these old ordinary maps, and I supposed these promo-maps would be included in the game. These from screens looks more atractive than standard ones. Got anyone these maps ?

The third image is from KamikazeDuck's ctf_Explore while the tenth image is from VirtualTT's Calypso Magica.

More importantly, why is http://static.soldat.pl/pl/screens/promo/Image9.jpg
photoshopped to give a false representation of the game...

Yeah, me and my friends were going crazy about that. We thought 1.4 was going to have motion blur :(

well Image1 is tw_ColdMorning (Image11 may also be)
Image4 and Image12 are the same and they're both one of the new maps (i believe though only for TW) and I don't like them.
Can't think of anything original to put here...

Aww, i thought that new maps had this new look.. is demonstrated that map editors have great potentials with multi-texture and alpha PNG. But effectively, the photos in the site was sort of "easter egg" because them are not included in the game. And i tought that the "all map reworked" said in the change log, had the meaning of this new amazing graphic. But the real changes are very difficult to see...

Yes, alot of the maps used for the screenshots were merely to give Soldat a more aesthetic feel.  I'd bet people would be disappointed by this.

Oh, and the remaining two unidentified maps are VTT's TW_Rime and Viggoloniggolo's INF_Raibo, if I may recall.

The problem, I think, is that two of those maps support an unofficial gametype.  Explore was a puzzle map.  And VTT's Magica was constructed out of 2000 polygons.  TWO THOUSAND.  Probably even more.  That, along with a few hundred sceneries, can cause major drops in framerate on older computers.  So it couldn't qualify as a default map.

INF_Raibo could have been a default map.

INF_Raibo could have been a default map.
It was declared unbalanced and Horve refused to modify it. So we put in grand_diablo's inf_Messner instead :P
