OK, so I finished it.

(I cut some things that were incomplete or needed more work)

I would have loved to have more time to include about 50 other weapons
and silly stuff as well, but seriously, I haven't got the time available these
days!

I figure you guys would love to get your mits on it anyhow!

-It is VERY IMPORTANT that people reading this understand one thing...
This is DESIGNED to promote the easy addition of MORE weapons to the
folders and hence the game.

If you have a cool weapon or idea, simply make it to suit the apps gfx
and file requirements, them publish a link here on this topic!!!

It allows a FRIKIN MASSIVE collection of weapons to be accessable all at
once!!!


anyhoo, on to the archive...

It is an exe file, so I had to store it in a RAR file (four parts).
DOWNLOAD the 4 parts, decompress it to your desktop or whatever, then
RUN the installer package.  Make sure you install to your Soldat folder.

It is frikin 10 meg and decompresses to around 30 meg (lots of gfx)
but its worth the extra HD space (whats 30 meg on a 300 gig HD anyhoo?)

Important: This application was created to allow EASY modding for all
newbies and seasoned Soldat players alike.  It takes away all the hard
work away of trying to get your weapon menu looking cool, and allows
more time to be playing the game!  (the smallest game gfx are about
all you need fuss over) ... Or for those who cant be assed using the
"soldat.exe -mod..." command line! ...ENJOY!

Ok, so this page is here to help newbies into the fun and frikin easy way
to add there own weapons to the Hardwar: TACTICS front-end launcher
for Soldat.

First you need to know that the application relies on being configured
correctly, ie it needs to be told where your copy of Soldat is lurking.


After you have done this, you will be presented with the following screen:


Between these two stages, a couple of things take place...
A) The application updates the Config.HWK file in the Soldat Directory.
B) The application reads all the *.HWK files in all the known sub-directories
of the "Hardwar Weapons Kit 2006" folder.

These include:


Each of these folders have a *.HWK file, which can be opened using old
notepad.
here is the Akimbo.HWK as an example:


The application is VERY exact on the spelling of weapons listed.  If you
miss-spell one file or an entire folder, it wont show the weapon in the app
or worse still, the sound, gfx or info files wont be copied over.

Here is an example of the beretta 92f (akimbo) folder, showing the files
utilised by the application:


Note the *.HWK and the *.WPN files included in the sub-folder.
These files contain the actual weapon stats and a brief description of each
weapon for use in the application.

Here is a closer look at the *.WPN file for the SLR:


The raw info is as follows:
line 1: Credits for the weapon (seen only in the Weapons.ini file)
line 2: In-game name of the weapon
line 3: Damage factor
line 4: Fire interval (60=1 second)
line 5: Magazine Capacity (less than 300)
line 6: Reloading time (60=1 second)
line 7: Bullet Speed
line 8: Bullet Style (shotgun, rifle, arrow)
line 9: Start up delay (0=none)
line 10: Hit effect on accuracy
line 11: Movement effect on accuracy

The *.WIF (Weapon Information File) allows you to write something up
about the weapon you are adding/creating.  It can be fictional or factual
or both.

The format I have used so far is as follows, however you may change it
as you see fit, BUT you are limited to only 6 lines of text in the *.WIF file.
Here is the SLR's WIF file as an example:


Any gfx you use in Hardwar: TACTICS, must be as follows:
For the main app picture, it must be 109 pixels wide by 37 pixels high:

It MUST be in BMP format, with the last letters in the file "-Pic.bmp".

For the actual in-game gfx, it must be 50 pixels wide by 17 pixels high:

It also MUST be in BMP format, with the last letters being "-Int.bmp"

Another thing to note, the SEMI folder is utilised by different slots.
The reason is that Soldat itself has Bolt-Action rifles, Grenade Launchers,
Pistols and Self-Loading rifles/shotguns.  ALL these categories come under
SEMI (semi-automatic).  To allow HUGE selections across slots that were
previously only for one type of weapon, you need to accomodate the
requirements of these exclusive weapons.

example:
The old Ruger77 does not have a magazine that falls when you re-load.
It is called SLOT7GFX for ease of understanding.
If you select the SLR for slot 7, the application will look for *.SLOT7GFX.bmp
and SLOT7GFX-2.bmp.
Every other slot will use the normal SLR.bmp and SLR-2.bmp.

Here is what I am talking about:



Simply put, if you decide to do an automatic weapon, look at any sub-
folder in the AUTOMATIC folder and note the files utilised.

Another thing to note, the arrangement or order of the weapons in a *.HWK
file can be sorted any old way, you can group YOUR weapon together or use
the categories I have created for them.  Just so long as the spelling of the
weapons matches the actual folders.

The only comment I have for the application is that it's far too self-overrated. Perhaps you should tone down on the large, irritating lettering. As for your weapons, I believe shrinking is lame and ruins the whole essence of modding. If you wish to improve, you should try editing the weapons with and application like GIMP so it looks decent.

You realize that I said I only have one comment on the application, right? Furthermore, you have it wrong; one word of critique bears far more value than a myriad of compliments. I like it when people constructively criticize my mods because the next time around, I can listen to their suggestions and make my mod better. My beliefs are not narrow-minded, as I am merely trying to help a thick-skulled (thanks Wraith) man improve his modding. Regarding your response to LeetFidle's post: friends are people who stick by you despite your setbacks, and critique you for them, so you can work on becoming a better person. For example, if I were addicted to meth, I'd rather have a friend who'd try and pull me out of it than one who'd buy me more.

Hello, I was going to stay away from this post because unless I'm mistaken, the first was locked by a moderator. But I'm going to because of the sherr anount of stupidity that you're expressing.

First off:
Your mod is nothing special. Lets simply avoid the weapons for now. Without those, all you did was make a weapon configurator. Now, there is already a weapon configurator (Ivan's), and I have to say, I like it a fair amount. One thing I like about it is that it is simple and isn't flashy. This on the other hand is bright, flashy, and personally I think it's ugly.

I agree with Vltava, when he says that this mod thinks too highly of itself. But I don't just think that, I think that this mod and it's creator both think too highly of themselves. I also can't believe you didn't realize that Vltava was giving you a suggestion on how to make your mod less pompous when he said that the lettering should be toned down a little.

Second:
You have failed you argument. You resorted to insulting a typo beause you couldn't think of anything else to do. That sure makes you seem smart.

Sadly, I doubt any of this will mean anything to you because you are quite thick-skulled.

Also. you should really think about your mod. first look at other peoples great mods like field marshals and  ivahns.(great mods!) see whats good about theres and note down some of the things that make theres so great and make something great! but for now dont argue with people that think your mod sucks cuz you arn`t going to change there mind(is that how you spell arn`t??)

They're giving you good advice, so don't be so tight-assed you can't open your eyes and see it.  Trying to argue it out with them does no one any good.  Their points are valid, and you're only making yourself look bad by trying to insult/cut them down for some perfectly logical suggestions and critiques.

While the application is a nice touch, the guns are what makes a mod worth downloading.  Their looks and sounds change the game to make it something new.

But that's not happening here.  We all know you put time into this mod, but let's see something that really wows the community...something handmade, not resized.  New sounds, not the same old bangs and booms.

Unfortunately all suggestions to the author to modify, "improve" or "remove" the application,
supporting files, *(or even the author) can no longer be accepted.  *LOL

If any FUTURE plans are made for Hardwar, you can always lodge an "Expression of Interest" to be a Beta tester for the next possible release, by emailing the author directly.

-Please note:
"Expressions of Interest" recieved do not automatically guarantee acceptance as a beta tester.
Other "expressions" recieved will be ignored, made fun of, recycled or laughed at...
(possibly not that order)

It's sad that you can't think of more positive things these days...
Hardwar: TACTICS is too much of a strain on you, take it easy, relax!
I would suggest that you try and take things a bit easier, as it is better for your
health not to get so worked up over something that you really have no control over.
-Perhaps try meditation or exercise, or read a good book or something?


If you really cant let it go, I would suggest you perhaps talk to a trained
professional, someone who has time to take you seriously and to help you cope
with all these angry emotions and feelings that you have towards the creator
and Hardwar: TACTICS.

You will feel better and more confident about yourself, knowing that you dont need
to result to using harsh words against another person!
