Because animated map graphics could let mapmakers get even more creative. One idea would to have a TW scene where there are .gif "soldiers" firing blindly downfield, giving it a degree of atmosphere. The list goes on and on. So stop being a wet blanket. =/
No, it looks 5 seconds INTO THE FUTURE to take a screenshot of what's going to happen.
Think about it though: Animated waterfalls and grass could add a lot of feel to the game. Plus, it allows mapmakers to get creative,such as a giant mech in the background that moves back and forth.
... im just waiting for when mappers will adapt to 1024x1024 gifs. "Yeah it works on my 8 core machine @ 7GHz! so no worries!".I say, that people with low-end machines won't be happy with animated gifs.
