Ctf Eyeball

Ctf Eyeball

I'd never really tried this peculiar style of shading in a map I have released, so I used my previous ball-in-the-middle idea for this map, and of course shaded in the such a manner.

Still no waypoints... Thus, it is in the idea section. To make a more complete third route, I have removed the middle gray and white chunk from underneath and above the eye section.

very unique visuals. Mind showing us where the objects are?
Edit: NVM didn't see the PMS, gimme a min...

Edit2: I like it a lot, but you should do two things:
1. Fix polybugs. They're all over.
2. Make the spawn placements in the base a little more interesting.
Your bases are well made, but the spawn placement is all in one spot in them.

NICE!
Now it just needs a little more scenery... Look at ctf_Steel, I really like the scenery on that map, and you're about halfway to its level of scenery.

I was just playing on Steel... do you think this map is too small perchance?

not really. Its definitely on the small end of the map-size-o-meter, but its not too small to be fun.

Man, that does look sick. The curves should allow some fun and fast route changing: the base layouts are traditional, whilst the middle is a nice idea. The dark background might be annoying to play, but there's good contrast with the ground - wonder if this gets on a gather server. Once you release it that is. (:

update again..

-Removed the white fog: was distracting more that perty.
-Added the "Oh so popular" white beams. Good? They don't add nor distract..
-The bottom and middle base entrances looked uninviting: changed 'em a bit.
-Lighter background (less saturation)
-Added another player spawn on middle base route; now spawns are even.
-Made lil' blocks on bottom base routes "no collide."

...wonder if this gets on a gather server.

I would dance ;). Just the thought is inspiration enough...

Awesome map. And for the 6,000,000th time, I wish I had your creative juices.
I do whatever my Rice Krispies tell me to.

Keep the fog, but make it darker.
Make the white beams change the color of the polygons a bit (just raise the brightness on affected verticies a bit), to make the map feel more dynamic.

Haha, those beams look ridiculous. The color is silly, as you said they don't add anything, they're just.. there. I use them on my maps to have a cave feel, this doesn't need that.

If you really want to fill it up with scenery, experiment with stacking transparent and stretched bushes, ambclouds, rubbles, grass, junglebush, cols, etc. If you find the right colour palette for those, it might give a good rusty-industrial / surreal look for the map. Heck, why am I trying to explain visuals to you, you rocked our socks before with eye-candy :x

This is one damn nice map, visually and gameplay.  Small, but works for 3vs.3, like ctf_Steel's size.  I really like the atmosphere in this map.  Only thing I don't like are the beams, since you placed three exactly next to each other, when your player moves, you can a slight space between them.  I suggest you re-do them and place one at the bottom and another smaller one directly above.    It'll give the same look, but it'll be more neatly done and will use less scenery.

Also, I should have have posted this in your other map thread, but I wouldn't recommend to waypoint your maps unless you're able to have them work flawlessly.  And from what I can tell, this map will probably make it to the Gather Server, so waypoints aren't need either way.

Good, I agree... just wanted to add them to see what kind of reaction they would get :). They shall be going down the chute...

I haven't been feeling the aesthetics vibe in a while... My Scenery-gfx folder is way overloaded. I use to use a really crazy palette I threw together myself, but now I've switched momentarily to the MZpalette.

updated thrice:

-Added scenery
-Shaded a few sections slightly darker
-Light beams trashed

Nothing changed to the layout. Had to upload to Imageshack since Photobucket was down for maintenance... So, you'll just have to click that tiny screenshot now. Downloads updated of course.

Think this project is ready for release (I should determine this...)? I think I liked the version without very much scenery slightly better.. but this adds a bit of spice to it. Kept the theme pretty neutral, although I did add a few rusty lookin' chains to the mix.
