Do any of these suggestions ever even make it?
« on: November 07, 2008, 06:31:25 pm »
I was just wondering if any of the plethora of game improvement suggestions even reach the corner of MM's eyes. I don't remember seeing a suggestion implemented in a while.

Not necessarily MM, but I recall EnEsCe saying that he read through the suggestions section for new ideas, and that he took most if not all into consideration. Can't possibly be arsed to find his exact post, but it was somewhere along those lines.

Alright. I know I'm as active as a bag of chips on these forums, so I'm not the best guy to be asking the questions. In other words, I'm not sure what suggestions went into the beta for 1.5. I'm guessing the radio chat was a suggestion?

Imo if we are in doubts about this we could ask EnEsCe whether he read (at least) the list of public demands in Official Suggestion Sticky, but NOT NOW (because now he is finishing 1.5 and he won't add more features to it, only fix exisiting bugs). I think we should do it about 2 or 3 months after 1.5 release, he should have time then.

Hmm. Maybe this is asking too much, but I'd personally like to see a list of "Game Improvements/Suggestions," that have been implemented, and the names of the people who submitted them. That way this part of the forum won't feel like a simple fantasizing thing. Instead people would have reassurance that their suggestion actually has a chance of getting in.

Unfortunately some ideas are silly (here's an example), so I don't agree that every suggestion should be listed, but I agree that reasonable and supported ideas should be listed somewhere. I've made a topic about this here - you are welcome to post comments and vote!

As Toumaz said , I read every topic in Game Improvements / Suggestions. Individual people will not be credited for ideas that get added either.

Oh damn. I said the wrong thing. What I meant was I wish there was a list of "Game improvements/Suggestions" that have been implemented.

have you considered my idea of alternative sceneries? it would be nice if you would reply and say why it cant be implemented or why you wont do it or your gonna consider to put it in 1.5.1

I got a suggestion implemented - it made me feel good.
It's important to remember that the idea needs to be doable and popular in order to be implemented. If it's something small and useful then there's a good chance it will be implemented.

Don't turn this into a 'HEY! Look at my idea!' thread.

A simple credits page would suffice, listing all the people's ideas that made it in.

Ok, who wants to find out who was responsible for each feature?

Eh, fuck it then.

most suggestions are not unique. so giving credits would be really hard to do...

As -Major- just said most (if not all) ideas are not unique. If credit was given for 'ideas', 8 out of 10 times there would be someone who will strongly believe it was originally their idea. Just knowing "your" idea was considered and successfully implemented should be enough.

players should get credited for their ideas, this is what brings soldat into a community.

Generally I agree with -major- and EnEsCe: crediting every idea would only create mess.
Actual work (coding, drawing, making animations, default maps and sceneries) is of couse a different thing and should be credited for sure (and it is, I believe).

jesus kids, you don't need credit for suggesting an improvement. If your suggestion is good, it will be done, isn't that enough?

I would just like a list of the suggestions that were implemented in versions of soldat, thats all, not people getting credited. Also, my idea of replying to every reasonable idea would be more welcome.

Posting in a thread that's been dead for 7 months replying to a quote from last year? wth?
