WIP - FutureMod by DarkCrusade - 29th January -
« on: January 18, 2009, 06:25:09 am »
Okay, next try in modding, but now I got this challenge in an other way ;D
This time I made the interface-weapons first in soldatsize and then I made them new
for the weapons-gfx and it worked pretty :) I am working with a zoom of 800% to
work more detailed than before and I hope it is better now than the crap I posted before ;D

Till now I modded the eagles, the mp5, the ak, the steyr, spas, the m79, the minigun, the knife, the law and the chainsaw, I changed also the fire-effects of those weapons and the bullets (they need a bit more work, but that is much easier than I thought :) ).

Hmmm, try it out ;D

btw: who knows this explosion: it is the default one with negative colors :)

-- CREDITS --

All credits to me, the interface is not included (by "a fool") :)

-- UPDATE -- (19th January 2009)

-I made new explosions (2 different you can choose in the mod)
-I made new flames
-Ruger-replace, Steyr-replace
-USSOCOM is now a teleporter which can bring you through walls or speed you up, it behaves a bit like
the scroll of teleportation in Heretik mod II

-- UPDATE -- (20th January 2009)

-I updated the weaponskins of some weapons and the interfaceversions as well
-added barret, ruger and minimi-replace
-added gosteks (mecha-styled)
-worked on the teleport (now working pretty fine :) )

-- UPDATE -- (21th January 2009)

- I improved the gosteks a bit
- I made a new steyr-replace, the other version wasnt good in my opinion
- I resized the interface-version of the teleport
- I reshaded some weapons (especially ruger and minimi  )
- I added a replacement of the flamer

-- UPDATE -- (22th January 2009)

- added some new weapons
- changed ranny and some sparks
- added kit-replacements
- overworked some weapons
- new jetflames

-- UPDATE -- (23th January 2009)

- added more weapons
- new Interface working good for default
- some more playing with gosteks
- reshading of some weapons
- changing of some bullets because of 1/2 invincibility

-- UPDATE -- (29th January 2009)

- again I added more weapons and overworked the old
- I changed the glow of the flag (ilum)
- I added a new interface and 2 new maps (kalips (waypointed) is for ctf, mecha (unwaypointed) for dm)
- added a new turret :)

GET THE NEW VERSION!!! ;D

explosion has been done before (quite a few times I think) and you need to credit "a fool" for the interface.

This is very nice, nice job here :)
my only complains are the sniper's bullet (Incredibly huge and visible), the minigun's bullet (barely visible) and the "teleporter" icon is too big, change it to like a remote button or something :)
Verily!

thanks a lot for your recomments ;D

Where to put in modified kits and flags? I have done them, but dont know where to find the files in the soldat-direction :(

I played a bit with rannie-modifiing, now the blood on the player is yellow, but I have to decrease the light of the yellow and the color itself :D

I also made an interface for it, but it just works for [reg] so I put it in the attachment below :)

@a fool: I will come to these 2 bullets today and change them a bit :) You are right, the barret-bullet is much too big and I cant see the bullets of the minigun good, too ;D

Where to put in modified kits and flags? I have done them, but dont know where to find the files in the soldat-direction :(

modfolder/Textures/Objects (like berserkerkit.bmp objects or infflag.bmp textures)

For clear parts of flag: modfolder/Objects-gfx (like torch.bmp)

Thanks Henito :)

To all: I uploaded the newest version of the mod, please delete the old version before downloading the new one, because I made some folder-changes for a better overlook, now you can modifie the weapons you want to have on one place on your own, because I did new weapon-replaces :)

Download is in the first post with new screens!

EDIT: I need somebody who could make the sfx for me, I dont know how to ;D

I might be nitpicking, but I doubt that in the future weapons will have wooden parts :P

I'm impressed with the creativity going on. Very nice designs. Oh, and I've seen some of your early work, it's definitely an improvement. Very nice. Oh, one complaint: the weapon names. More specifically, "shotgun," "grenade launcher" and "chainsaw." You've got a name for everything else, why not finish it up, eh?  :)

Okay, the newest version of my mod is in the first post:

- added more weapons
- new Interface working good for default
- some more playing with gosteks
- reshading of some weapons
- changing of some bullets because of 1/2 invincibility :)

:EDIT:

Does somebody know a webpage where I can find sounds fitting to my weapons?
What would you suggest for making a startmenue for deciding which weapon-version to take? I will
make more and more weapons for my mod, now I´ve got sth like 24 weapons, but it will raise to 60 or more ;D

ooh, some of them are beginning to look pretty good.  (like the flame destroyer, although if you want to be taken slightly more seriously I would consider a different name for it)

keep going ^^

Finally I can say something more positive to this topic and your work overall. As I see you're taking your time and tryin' to do things better which is the best way to be better - improve.

The flame destroyer is a pretty neat conception but still I have to say it's not so well done. With more practice with texture pixelin' you could become a good moder. Finaly somebody who's going to step up and make something good.

Work more and I bet you could be a good one.

Hey Dairy, I am happy to hear finally from you that you take me serious ;D
My start at modding was really not good, the started Pokemon-Mod was a bad start for me, but I think now it´s
going on good :)

To the textures: I have Adobe Photoshop 7, there I can use textures :) What would be a good texture for flames?

btw: I want to make a startmenu where you can change the weaponversions (in the folders there are "old", "new" and "newer" at the moment. That will be changed to 1, 2 and so on :) ), do I have to
programm it myself or is there a program out there doing this for me?

You dont need PS for textures, you can do them in any program (but if you want to you could use pre-made textures and overlay those onto your guns..  it wont look so good though.  it's best to learn to do it yourself.

put it this way, paint can do anything that photoshop can when it comes to pixel art.

Photoshop is horrible for pixelart in my opinion, but with PS I can easily fill in a texture on a weapon without destroying shading (opacity)

Well, you probably didn't get the way I ment the texture thing. I mean makin' a texture lookin' weapon from pixels, not a texturing feature in a program. I've made everyting in MS Paint. It means you should combine colors, shadings and placing to make it look like the skin is actualy something - like metal shading, wooden look like. Dithering and other methods could help. Dark and light combinations make nice details. I'm sucky with english language so I'm not possible to make any well done tutorial so the only way I'm tellin' this is just to practice.

Uhmmm, you should improve the shapes.
I think that ingame they will be ok but interface guns are just strange.
If I were you I wouldn't use that much of gradients and go to textures, try it, look some weapons arround there and try to make something with textures
