Educate yourself already.

I'm not sure whether to regard the messed-up presidential oath as a fubar or something unique that adds flavor to the inauguration. Both of them were fumbling around a bit haha.

I just found it so funny because he is one of the most careful and formal presidents in US history and always plans his speeches out to the detail and I have never really heard him screw up that much and then at the oath of office he goes and screws it up. 2 tons of irony dropped on my head.

The judge screwed it up since he decided to get cocky and do it without the script.

Would be a shame if people realized he isn't God.

Seriously, I find this whole situation the essence of idiocy.  People from all over the country and possibly the world has traveled to this one spot to see him make this speech.  What makes this even more stupid is that it's freezing, yet they couldn't care less.

Obama isn't God nor can he really make much of a difference.  In fact, the only difference he has from other presidents in the past is the color of his skin.  He isn't going to make much of a difference to the country and world.

I'm not saying you're idiotic to say he's not God; no duh he isn't God. However, I think your attitude towards not being able to change the world is. Obama in the position as president is a symbol, not a person, and to that capacity, can be likened to a god. People gathered because Obama is supposed to be a lightning rod for people to gather and channel a new attitude.

It's kind of like cleaning your table in preparation to do a big project.

In the end anyways, your dogmatic, fatalistic attitude is what the US needs less of. Even if he's the same as past presidents, it's the people who make the nation. =.=

The big reason for him becoming president is because it shows that color and race aren't a big deal anymore.

Obama's like a new Intel logo put onto the same processor...everybody can expect it to perform differently, but boy they better be prepared for a big disappointment.

Obama is a symbol of renewed hope, both for Democrats and African-Americans. That's why D.C. was packed today. Even if he turns out normal. Even if he doesn't change anything. Now all Americans know they have the potential to become president. It opens doors. He will be in history books forever.

Witnessing the inauguration ceremony is worth bragging about.

The oath is just a formality anyway, he'd be president even if it didn't take place... but yeah the person he was reciting the oath after fumbled it :P

I have to write a 15 page report on it. Whooppee.

I did, but I watched it in my AP Lit class and my teacher recognized a lot of stuff (said something about Walt or something) and said we'd go over it later, so it must have some merits.

The poem itself is pretty good but the poet's recital was god-awful
