Player Options
« on: April 05, 2009, 08:16:46 pm »
Hi, made this account to contribute some ideas to this game  ;D
I thought it would be pretty cool if when you hit F1 to check game stats, you could click a player's name and see a list of options such as: vote kick, mute, as well as a rating system (1 star to 5 stars) for registered players. It would just be a whole lot easier and faster than hitting escape, kick, and cycle through a list of players.
Anyway let me here your thoughts on this F11 or F12.

I would like to see some of this in Soldat. Slight F12.

This would make things easier and a lot faster - F12 for me

you hit F1 to check game stats, you could click a player's name

Right click would be better becuase I often check the game stats after diyng and such so i might click it by accident and will become really anoying.

Rating system won't work out. Rest of the ideas are nice. F12 to this.

If developers decide it's to hard to do, give us at least command /votekick (similar to /votemap).

F12, but not rating system.  Perhaps edit poll?
Enjoy your stay here, nice first post IMO.

The ratingsystem is interresting, but I've gotta turn it down as well. I just think it would be inaccurate and annoying in the long run. Also, the rest of your suggestions are fine, but not very interresting. It's not like it's hard to do those things to begin with. Besides, when you press F1 the game doesn't pause. This allows you to view the scoreboard while in combat, meaning moving the mouse around will make the screenimage move along with it.

Sorry mate, just not a fan.

Nah. I don't like rating systems, if you want that go play a scripted zombie server. A simple coolness level will suffice, but we all know that's a no go. As for mute/ban, it should simply be a drop down menu or a new list that comes from the pressing of the button, instead of a tedious cycle.

F12 without the fancy stars. Rate players in-game? For what? To check who's the better date???

Yeah I guess a rating system would get abused. I was basically trying to add some sort of extra feature for registered only members to this idea.

Another extra feature for regged players is always good, because Soldat really lacks them. Not the rating stars though. It might've been a good idea, but i'm sure people will find a way to hack it.

As for the main idea - nice and shiny F12
Though keep in mind that some players look at scores right on the battlefield, so it shouldn't interfere with controls too much.

Without the rating system.

It works nicely, but there would need to be quite some changes. Rather than having the F1 screen to select the players (because you can kill etc while in F1), you press escape, click a menu called "Stats", then it would show you a list similar to F1, except that now you won't shoot etc when trying to click.

Currently, the most convenient way is to just F1, then type the / command, and look for the ID of the player. For example, " /kick 5 ", and you'd kick the person whose ID in your server is 5.

F11 for rating
Instead of the rate thing I an "add friend" button would be a better ;).

F12 for the other stuff
Had this idea one year before and wanted to add it to chatMod but Battleye was faster in banning.
The downside of this click and kick thing is that players could move up or down after you clicked on the name.
So Soldat would need some sort of line selection to make sure it's the player you wanted.
Also the Admin commands should only appear when player is logged in as admin. (Could be tricky to detect because of remote Admin and if you have been logged in already).

This is another type of ranking system that could be used. A lot of you oppose it, but I still think it would be cool.

It's on this topic, a pic of it is somewhere there.

Erm...You added option to poll "Yes (no rating system)". It wasn't there last time and now I would like to change my vote but I can't.
