Block blank messages

Another minor, but just add something like

if(message > "") {WriteConsole;} (example).

Then it stops people sending blank messages. :)

Are blank messages really a problem? I mean, do you see them more than... one a day?

No, but minor improvements and tweaks here and there make all the difference in the long run.

If you forbid blank messages gamemodes like Hide and Seek will be harder if you want to speak while being hidden without getting banged ...
Also the gamemode portal would loose an important command (team blank chat and normal blank chat) to remove the portals ...

F11, it is really unnecessary and easily scriptable for one server

Er, you can stop messages going through via script? Pray tell, how?

You can NOT block any message by any player. Just warn them.

Soo, you say it will hurt some gamemodes,, otherwise I would F12.

Keep on the good work with finding small improvements we can make :)

What if you didn't want someone from the other team seeing what you wrote in teamchat? Then how would you stop them from reading it without typing something blank really fast.

Add a script and put it in a taunt (/blank or something). Safer that way too.

Too much work for serverowners, this is unnecessary

Server owners don't have to do a thing and nor can they.

I dont think blank messages are such a big deal + yes, blocking them has its downsides.
Why not to leave it as it is? Or instead, let script be able to prevent messages to appear over players' heads.

Waste of time...could be using the time to fix important bugs.

Er, I couldn't possibly imagine why that would take so much time. It's just adding in a few if statements and copying the function from the fade-out timer that runs normally.

Full support for this. There's no point in not fixing it.

It's just unnecessary...you want blank messages so your opponents can't see what you're typing in teamchat.

I don't see your point. Wouldn't that be an entirely separate problem then, unrelated to this discussion on the whole? I somehow strongly doubt that blank messages were allowed for the sole purpose of being able to quickly block out teamchat to the other team.

If that particular issue is so dear to you, why don't you just go suggest that teamchat shouldn't be visible to the other team whatsoever, thus eliminating the need for the rather dodgy solution of sending a blank message straight afterwards?

My biggest peeve is that blank messages contribute to unnecessary console entries which serve no real purpose to others; nothing else. I imagine that it would be very, very easy to fix codewise.

And fuck sake I'm clearly overdoing this.
