n00bface, the map has lots of holes in it, all the way to the bottom. Know what that is?

Cool spawn area btw :)
try rejoining, it should be client-specific. That happens to people a lot, apparently chunks not loading.

Aye, it's the infamous Minecraft chunk errors.  They're clientside chunks, and they're only gaping holes visually.  Reconnecting to the server fixes them.  I think the only known way to prevent them from happening at the moment is to toggle your fog settings, although the issue is fairly trivial unless you find one in the path of your digging.

n00bface: I tried to build another way to trap those mobs but then I discovered that I'm not allowed to use lavabuckets. Is this another stupid security measure?

I just need to add your name to the regular players list for you to be able to use lava (and fire.)  It's there so that randoms don't join the server and surround the spawn area with lava, which is the most common method of griefing in SMP.

I can't connect anymore to your server :(
I get Connection Lost
Internal Exception: java.io.UTFDataFormatException: malformed input around byte 1
I can get on other servers though.

I can't get in either. Maybe it has something to do with the new minecraft 1.2 version? It updated when I opened my minecraft.

Minecraft updated, but the plugin (hMod) hasn't updated to comply with the new version yet, so the server won't work :)

Wookash, I have no idea.

Now that's a bugger... After another update from 1.2 to 1.2_01 my minecraft crashes after the "Mojang Productions" logo and I can't play it at all.

15 Euros blown. I want a refund.

The server is up, but I'm using a temporary world now until the proper mods are updated.  This is so that the world doesn't get destroyed from lack of protections.  The mod (hey0) is no longer being developed because the production team has moved on to Bukkit, so it could be a few days before Bukkit is running and able to import the old plugins.

Unfortunately no. :/ Only free version is Minecraft Classic, and it's basically a very old version without monsters or crafting.

Search minecraft forums? Try restarting (minecraft and comp)? Try deleting everything related to minecraft except your saves and minecraft.exe?

To be honest, the previous world was kind of boring. Too flat and without many interesting landmarks + new version has some new additions like new trees which probably won't be there in already generated chunks. Perhaps it's worth starting fresh?

Even though I spent a while on a cool chasm in the old map I'd be fine with a fresh start. Have some new ideas to implement.

It's not really as fun to play in SMP as I thought. I experienced it today while playing on n00bface's server.

The thing is you start off good. Gather resources. Silver ore, coal. sticks. torches etc... and then those m*therfu*king noobs come and take all your stuff away.

But this time I was smart. I hid my chest so those newbs would't find it. It seems to work so far.

Next time in the morning I will join the server again. And when it's day here in europe they all will be sleeping while I'm raiding their homes. Who's the winner then?

I made an awesome home in a secret place. No one will ever find it! Muahahahah :D

Anyway... I crafted a lava bucket and thought I'd do some raiding and destroying. After wandering around one guy started hurting me for no good reason. I kept running away from him until I had half hearts left. I went into a hole and he came right after me. I saw him coming... I placed down the lava and the bitch burned like hell :D Ah, what a good feeling to see someone burn :D

Same thing happened to me the other day. Except I was the one outside the house. And except there were 3 creepers waiting for me as I came in...
