I almost shat myself on at least 20 occasions playing that game, it's the scariest shit I've played in my life.
That game terrified me more than watching The Exorcist at the age of 9.

It is pretty scary, but to be honest - I've seen scarier (Penumbra series, some of the Silent Hill games). Maybe it's because of the monsters' behaviour - once you see the pattern - they become easy to avoid which really ruins the scare factor. :/

Highlight text for spoiler: As soon as you hear typical monster "rawr" - hide somewhere and wait it out - the monster will look for you, get bored, walk away and just despawn around the corner.. Until you trip over another monster-spawning trigger in which case the process repeats. If monsters were actually patrolling areas without despawning - that would truly be scary.

It's actually the first horror game that I beat without cheating. In other games I just couldn't take the tension and would cheat myself infinite ammo or something. >_>
I did like the story though. And the water lurker. <3

I'm not talking about the monsters, even though the despawning IS a turn off (Though I heard some genius made a patch or something for that), I was talking about the damn environment, and the fact that the walls start turning into guts at some point in the middle stages.

Minecraft looks so nice -- it's all about lighting apparently -- and dynamite never grows old. I vote that someone part the red sea with dynamite in Minecraft. Dooo iiit.
