I personally think scoreboard in soldat should be more useful like adding more stuff, font size, etc...
(Especially server name should be shown!)
Heres one I made for examaple to help you guys understand what I'm trying to say.
It may seem to be huge cause my resolution in soldat is 800x600

Harder to compare yourself to the other team maybe. I don't think ther's a need for a change.  K:D has been discussed before I think.
Suggest small changes in the scoreboard, rather then making a new one.

This looks much better in my opinion. Yeah, I reckon it's time for a change and the K:D idea needs to be included aswell. Small things like this will influence more people to joining and continue on playing. Although we need a develepor who is commited to the job.

Total number of games/kills/deaths. Total k/d ratio. Favorite weapon. Fav server!
Than if you could sync it up with the forums to have it in your av/sig.

It wouldn't be that great. But games are always better when you can keep a record of your stats/achievements.

I really like this. Having the team in seperate spaces and the server name shown up there too is really good. Much cleaner this way.

K:D seems a bit too much, its a useless e-penor thing.

Please have the server name up the top! It would help sooo much. Small things like this make a hell of alot difference in the game! Would be nice, wouldn't it guys? And K:D isn't that hard to script either.

I like the Server name in the scoreboard. There been a number of times when I join a random server, then decide that I like it and want to see what's it called. (p.s., don't forget that not everyone knows about the /info command)
Other than that I think current scoreboard is fine as it is.

As for the way teams are separated.. some may like it, but I find it more useful when they're mixed. You can actually see how skillful each team is - do they have equal amount of good and bad players, or do all the reds suck and all the blues pwn?



Though either way.. with the way NSC runs things now, I'd say suggestions/improvements section is pretty much useless.

Well, take the original, and have it show the date and map name as well.
And that last part L[0ne]R said. He is right. He shouldn't be the only one deciding what goes into Soldat. It isn't HIS game.

It looks nice but there is a problem.

Soldat can have up to 32 players.
With your idea we reduce the amount of players you can see by 2 or even 3.
However even Soldats current scoreboard can't show all 32 players.



The idea to add the servername to the scoreboard however could even be added to the current scoreboard.
There is enough space for that.
Your color and the bold text look nice imho.

The scoreboard already needs an update because of the problem that you don't see all players.
Adding the servername could be done too I isn't a huge visual change and I think most players will like it.

I agree with that splitting the list into alpha and beta should either be optional or not added.
I'm not sure where you want to see the K/D ration added there seems to be very few space for that.

Well, that is only on very low resolutions, so it's not very common. NVM, I completely forgot about the non-regged players. :S
How about making several pages of a scoreboard? Pressing f1 once would show page 1. Pressing it again will show page 2, and pressing it the third time will hide the scoreboard (that is only if whole thing doesn't fit) or maybe use a smaller font.

And what if you already use the scrollwheel ingame for other commands? Usually you watch at the list while playing. This would lead into conflicts...
Pressing F1 several times is the best idea imo.

And btw: I'm quite happy that EnEsCe isn't afraid of soldatforums any more. :)

Also, taking into account not being registered only gives you the 640x480 resolution as an option obviously what we have is what we have to work with. There are a few alternatives to 'solve' this problem: either you reduce the font size/line-spacing or you go for multiple nicks in one line. Since the width is also heavily restricted this doesn't actually solve anything and ends up being a matter of personal taste. Check the following image for a more vivid explanation



I guess using 2 columns would solve the 32 player problem (albeit packing things a bit, including not showing player names with over 20 characters properly) but I wonder how this actually would look with 4 teams too.

This looks like a pretty nice solution. Current scoreboard has a ton of horisontal spacing, might as well put that blank space to a good use. Also, how about increasing the size of scoreboard itself, stretching it to fill the screen more?
But as you mentioned yourself, displaying 2+ teams would become a problem. Ideally scrollbars would be the best solution (that's what other games use too) but as Illuminatus said, this would lead to conflicts with controls.

So I would still say let's make several pages of scoreboard. I know pressing F1 is annoying, but having 20+ players on server at once isn't common (mostly on zombie servers, but zombies are usually the ones at the bottom, so who cares?). Besides, this would make the "custom resolution" feature even more desirable. ;D

Can we get that other feature also, where you hold F1 so it shows the scoreboard, instead of pressing F1 to keep it up and having to press it again.

not every soldat player knows that, so having it that way is easyer.
also, i like the place the scoreboard is now, more at the top of the screen instead of the midlle.

Yeah. There already is /votemap,  but obviously we need something better than that. If you use votemap, you also have to know exactly how map is named, and it's case-sensitive.
But either way it's not something a scoreboard needs. ;)

The new score board (f1 screen) in the new Beta version is quite improved over the current one. A pull down bar or screen or something that has "you killed" and "killed you" would be nice.
