inf_Undermine remake

Started to improve one popular INF map. Plans to do it better looking and improve gameplay by smoothing some routes, making some more room into bases and placing medikits/grenades different.

Oh this map! I loved it in INF servers when it was on. This map was a killer both fun at defending and attacking.

Are you planning on keeping the night theme from the original or turn it into a sunny day? I personally liked the night theme, but it could be better being slightly brighter like in the current ctf_equinox.

Yeah that's the thing I'm going to do. Actually night theme doesn't need very dark bg... I will keep the polygons sort of bright for reason of clearer polyground. Updated the first post with overview.

I opened this topic to show the progress in map development, final release will be posted into ctf/inf section. I wish you'd set the released version, not this half done map.

2 things so far.

I don't like the fact that you can no longer enter through these "windows" any more. By making it so only bullets can go through, you've effectively cut the entry points to the base in half.

2. Might want to add one more medkit (to total 3) if the blue health regen is going, or it's going to seem to some that the map is just devoid of the damn things.

1. Okay, I thought it's meant that you can't go through those windows and some of them are easier to go through and some not. Anyways I'll change it back to original, I'll just make exactly windows everywhere, where you can go through without nade boosting yourself.

2. Yes, planned to add more medikits also, from 2 to 3-4.

Very nice so far. I really like the colors, each part of the map feels different.
I don't like shading on vent sceneries (too much contrast), but I have a few vent sceneries I made myself. I'll post them tomorrow (don't have time right now, sorry :( ).

Looking forward to this remake.

Yeap I agree that the vent scenery look sort of ugly. Better vent scenery would be cool.

And no worries I still got some jobs to do before releasing. Going to post some new pics/updates later tonight.

About windows - IMO as entry points they never worked well. It was really hard to enter through them and most of the time just wasn't worth it. From my experience at least.

Here are vent sceneries. Feel free to modify them in any way you want.
Also, they're PNGs, so you'll have to convert them to BMP first.

Can't use that vent scenery, 3d vents don't fit into theme.

Updated first post with new mapfile/pic. Waypoints are made for alpha, gonna begin work with bravo's next.

You can roll through windows again.
