If you haven't seen this movie close the browser now and go watch it. James Cameron said that people would say they couldn't describe the movie after they saw it, I thought he was just being an egomaniac. Really I was floored when I saw the movie. First time in a long long time the theater was completely silent while the movie went on, no crappy jokes made while the movie is going on, no one yelling "OH SHIT" when something cool happens. Everyone was completely entranced. Admittedly I am one to really get into movies but I had to come back to earth after the movie was done. I am looking into the nearest imax for a massive brain exploding 3d orgasm of the eyes in the very near future, no matter what it costs me.

It looked cool, and I generally don't care about action movies. Will probably see it.

Don't expect much you haven't seen before.

Graphics were nice, a lot of emphasis was out into the characters personalities.  I really liked this.

Plot is good but it's taken from an old 1992 movie:

I didn't like it. My eyes hurt after this 3D shit. Luckily I slept about 20 minutes when they were attacking this fucking big tree. The plot is just random! "wth is happening" I was asking myself the whole movie. And these blue creatures are ugly, but sometimes cute.

Me too.

It looks like just another blue/orange film to me. I'll probably watch it after it comes out to DVD.

I thought that too as well. I haven't watched one episode of the last airbender, and yet I hear about it a lot so that kind of stuck. Aang in there, man!.........fuck.

Same here, i also thought Avatar rightfully belonged to 'Avatar the last airbender'. The series is awesome though, can't wait for the movie one. Its coming out on 2010 i think.

But yeah, back to this 'Avatar', im about leave home to catch it. See ya later.

Was a great show. Kinda stupid finale though (he just learns how to "energybend" from some giant turtle island thing).

Is it wrong that I was rooting for the humans at the end? Maybe I just hoped that they'd sacrifice a stereotypical ending for a logical one (that is, the dudes with the crazy awesome technology should be able to take out a few archers).

Anyway, I watched the 3D version, and I'm not sure if it legitimately added to the immersion or if I had just gotten used to it by the end, making it no better than a 2D version.  I will say that the 3 hours or whatever flew by, meaning that the plot was interesting and the action was fantastic.  Though it was a little hard to tell from behind the 3D glasses (whose polarization darkens everything), the CGI was flawless and believable, and was indistinguishable from real objects.  It was an excellent movie, and one of the few (recent) movies that I'd be willing to watch again.

Only anime shows I've felt any interest in over the years are Pokemon (original TV series) and various hentai.
