Throw flag command
« on: January 23, 2010, 08:55:13 pm »
Many have complained about the way flag throw is executed. Currently it's jump+crouch, and sometimes players throw the flag by accident.

Instead of having flag throw as a hard-coded key combination, why not make it a /throw (or something) command, which you could assign as a taunt to whatever letter or number you want?

Agreed.
Also, sometimes it doesn't throw it, and it's kind of hard to press both keys together if you're using arrows or WASD for movement.

makes no sense, the only mov to do it by mistake is using crouch cball. Btw, i dont even know if MM intentionaly coded jump+crouch to throw, he did some "funny bugs" by himself...

Taunting flagthrow is just downgrading it. If you have problems with getting jump and crouch combination correctly,
then how about when you try to stretch your pianist fingers to L.shift and then your specified button? Even if you would
be used to your left shift, it would end up being confusing as f**k for noobs.

Here's a good solution:

What really confuses me is your comment. :S I never said anything about right shift. L.shift is the closest to WASD so obviously it's the one I meant.
What exactly would be confusing for newbs? Newbs already have a hard time learning how to throw flags, and even if you try to teach them - only 20% will actually listen. Making it as a taunt won't make it easier for noobs, but it will at least make it easier for pros.

An option in controls section is of course better, but it'd take more effort to code which I doubt it will happen anytime soon. :S

Sorry, I forgot to mention I meant L.Shift.
It's closer to WASD indeed, but it's still further away than W from S.

*(Try putting crouch into L.Ctrl and prone into S - it might cure your finger knots)

And your saying avoiding any kind of effort is cool? Instead we should settle for floating puddle of diarhea?
I F11 for this s**t, let it be like it is or start coding my suggestion.
