Inf point system flaw
« on: January 29, 2010, 10:37:12 pm »
Consider a 3 vs 3 game of infiltration, alpha has 60 points, bravo is on 80, point limit of 90. The game is nearly over and alpha have secured the flag, there is no hope for bravo now. Out of desperation, an asshat on bravo joins alpha, the teams are now 2 vs 4, alpha caps and should win the game, but because of the asshat from bravo, they only get 25 points. The game ends 83 - 60 to bravo. Everyone on alpha is pissed but they cant do anything because all the bravo's F11 the ensuing vote kick, as they always do.

The point system can be exploited, and it happens. Maybe not in gathers etc, but it should still be fixed so that retards in public servers cant do it.

Automatic team balance scripts have partial effect, but don't get rid of the problem completely.

Not when the teams are unbalanced. At least, that's the way it used to be.

F12. Seen this happen very often and I remember even losing a match because of this.

possible solution: a 15-seconds delay before adding a penalty to stacked team. So if someone from one team suddenly switches to another team - for 15 seconds scores will keep calculating as if the player hasn't switched. Then 15 seconds after switching a score penalty will be added.

A bravo player also can join 'spect' to prevent losing. It gets annoying afterwhile.

Even better, make a script or something that will prevent players from switching teams manually when the flag is in possession alpha team/free. And only auto-balance by server is enabled.

Someone could rejoin the server instead of using the team menu though. But I like the "when flag is captured or loose" part. Sounds better than affecting all players all the time.
